Wouldn't it be wonderful if finally they have been found.

OMG, It seemed so obvious they were lost or injured in that area.
Where is Nancy Moyer?
09-23-2010, 01:14 PM #4[C. Tuggle's Granmother] said she called state police when those remains were discovered and said an officer gave her hope.
They said at first they were pretty sure they were Jim and Crystal, because they found a card with his name under the area where he was

The remains might not have complete jaws/teeth.
The missing people might not have had recent dental x-rays or dental care, or for some other reason (dentist moving/retiring, for instance) x-rays are missing or hard to obtain. I've read about other missing persons cases where LE/ME offices have managed to misplace x-rays or lost them in transit between offices.
The better the missing person's teeth, the less likely a match can be made from dentals, because so many people have perfect teeth. A match can tell you it could be the missing person, but it doesn't confirm it.
The medical examiner's office might have a six-month backlog of urgent casework, with a triage line of "what has to be done now to meet a court date?" Anything not part of an active case gets pushed to the back (this is the case in most of MA right now). In that case, just taking the x-rays might take a couple of months.Opinions expressed are strictly my own (who else would they belong to???)

I so pray that it is them, so this family can have some closure. Its heartbreaking..
ALBUQUERQUE - Family members of an Albuquerque a father and daughter who disappeared on a hike eight years ago say authorities have contacted them about skeletal remains found at El Malpais National Monument in northwestern New Mexico.
Becca Tuggle, mother of Crystal Tuggle, told television station KRQE authorities haven't told her anything officially, but the odds are high the remains found Tuesday could be those of her 20-year-old daughter and 46-year-old James Chatman.
09-24-2010, 10:30 PM #8James Chatman, 46, and his daughter, Crystal Tuggle, 20, vanished eight years ago while on an annual trip to mark his birthday and Father's Day. The remains were found in a remote area of El Malpais — Spanish for the Badlands — along with tattered pieces of clothing and weathered credit cards. Officials say there's no sign of foul play.
Positive identification of the remains came Friday from the Office of the Medical Investigator.
