Hopefully this will lead to finding Jon.

Nothing new to report from Nantucket. We are waiting for the results from the DNA test which could take several months to complete. The rumors are still flying. I hear a new one every day now. We are forecasted to get a lot of wind all next week. Hopefully the outer beach from Great Point to Coatue Point will be patrolled.

Thanks Old Man Shoal...Can someone please help me understand why they can't make a preliminary identification based on the boot? The type, the size, the sock type...even the length of the leg (if they have both pieces now) should give some information...I'm also surprised DNA testing would take that long- I always thought it was weeks...is this the norm?

I agree.....didn't realize that DNA testing could take months. This is one strange case all the way around.

There are several other people still missing. The bones could belong to anyone including these poor souls-

Thanks Old Man Shoal. What date was this article from?

(BTW, you called it when you mentioned the strong forecasted winds possibly blowing something up onshore.)

I thought more would show up.

The article that Old Man Shoal linked happened in 2007 I believe, found some other articles.

    Hi Nosy!

I think they probably know "who" it is based on the boot & sock - but I think due to a back log of work - that's why it's going to take so long for positive ID on the DNA. I could be wrong, lol, as I have been many times before.

The Lady Of Grace went down in 2007 in Nantucket Sound with all hands lost. They found the captain in the wheelhouse. Two crewmen are still missing.
We also have a woman who went missing here a few months ago.
I suspect with all this wind we are having on Nantucket, people will be combing the beach for more remains.

I suppose my first instinct is to say that these remains will belong to Jon Hemingway. But that doesn't tell us very much. We could then dismiss the idea that perhaps he fled and is alive somewhere. We would still have questions about how he died. The wife's story made no sense at all to me and I am surprised that LE closed the case so quickly.

Peter, glad to see you posting again. Welcome back.

I loved The Hull Truth comments when I first read them in March and now again months later. Most of those who commented had strong suspicions about the veracity of Katie Hemingway's story and the "I spoke to him; er, no I didn't" family friend. The entire story was fishy then, is fishy now. Here a fish, there a fish, everywhere a fish-fish.

At the end of the article is the name of NL, a family friend--anyone we should know?

What I should have said in my previous post was "At the end of the article in Cape Cod Online is reference to the name NL, a family friend ..."

    http://www.capecodonline.com/apps/pb...0331/-1/NEWS01

I've since learned that NL is general manager of a bike shop on Nantucket. He's married, twitters, and he slightly mentioned the disappearance of JH on the day it happened, but that was it.
