IDAHO COUNTY, Idaho - The Idaho County Sheriff's Office, along with multiple other agencies, are searching the Hells Canyon area of Idaho County for 39-year-old Todd Hofflander, who hasn't been seen since September 27th.

According to authorities, Hofflander and his friend Jeffrey Wieber were hiking in the Windy Saddle area Monday when they split up and agreed to meet at an area cabin around noon. Hofflander never showed up, and after an initial unsuccessful search by Wieber, authorities were called for assistance.

Hofflander, an experienced woodsman, was last seen wearing a green T-shirt and a blue baseball cap with a camouflage backpack. His family also tells KHQ that he has his dog with him as well.

Searcher teams are utilizing two canines, horses, ATVs, and two helicopters with thermal imaging equipment. Anyone with information is asked to call the Idaho County Sheriff's Office at 1-208-983-1100.

BOISE -- It's been seven days and still no sign of missing hiker Todd Hofflander. The 39-year-old was last seen in the Seven Devils area, southwest of Riggins. But a massive search on the ground and in the air, including thermal imaging, has turned up no signs of the experienced hiker.

Searchers looking for a missing hiker between the Seven Devils mountain range and the Snake River in Hells Canyon are perplexed by a lack of clues in the case, but think a black Lab may give them answers. Todd Hofflander, 39, of Lucile, has not been seen for more than a week. The experienced outdoorsman was helping his friend Jeff Wieber scout mule deer bucks when the pair decided to separate Sept. 27. The search has been scaled back until a clue directs the searchers where to look next. Hofflander’s family and friends and Idaho County deputies want to know if anybody in Hells Canyon or the Seven Devils may have found the dog and assumed it was abandoned. If so, they want to know where the dog was found so they can search the area.
