Jesse was last seen in Hemet, California late at night on February 6, 1959. He disappeared with his 15-year-old girlfriend, Joyce Ramsey. They were both seen last when a friend dropped them off after a party. The next day, Jesse's convertible was found abandoned on a dirt road near Hemet.
Frank Phillip Kretz Jr. later confessed to murdering both Jesse and Joyce. He led police to Joyce's body in 1971. She was buried in a shallow grave 4 miles north of Indio, California. Jesse's body has never been found. Kretz died in prison in 1996.
