The career criminal who murdered Officer John Pawlowski in cold blood was caught trying to open his shackles with a paper clip before his court appearance.

Rasheed Scrugs made the bold move after corrections officers took him from Curran-Fromhold Correctional Facility to an area hospital for a medical procedure.

John McNesby, president of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 5, said Scrugs "started to ramp up his antics" earlier this week when he indicated that he didn't want to appear in court.

"He's a savage," McNesby said. "They should have finished him off on the street. Now we have to deal with antics."

The man has nothing to lose and nothing but time on his hands. I guess he thought he'd try to be MacGyver. Sorry to say, there's only one MacGyver. And, thankfully, he was a good guy.

As the trial was ready to start the murderer of Police Officer John Pawlowski admitted the obvious. He was guilty.

Sometimes a picture is worth a thousand words.

Here's a link to Officer Pawlowski's Obituary and Guest Book. He was a handsome young man. Newly married. He was excitedly awaiting the arrival of a new son. He was a friend, a partner, a husband, and waiting to become a daddy. He is loved by family members and his family on the Police Force.

The wife and family of slain Officer John Pawlowski were dealt another round of pain when the jury deliberating the fate of his murderer sent word it was deadlocked.

The news caused Kimberly Pawlowski and others with her to break into tears.

Deliberations are to be resumed on Monday.

The Philadelphia jury charged with the duty of deciding whether or not cop killer Rasheed Scrugs would get the death penalty was deadlocked.

Without a consensus on the death penalty, Scrugs will be automatically sentenced to life in prison without parole...

Scrugs pleaded guilty to first-degree murder on Oct. 21, just as his trial was slated to begin.
