Larry Wayne Perry

Endangered Missing from Dumfries, Virginia since May 22, 1979

Age: 9 -- Height: 4'9" -- Hair Color: Brown -- Eye Color: Brown

Larry was last seen on May 22, 1979, by his grandmother by the picnic table outside his home in Dumfries, Virgina. He ate supper and left around 8:00 pm. He was seen chasing a four-wheeler near his home shortly afterward. His parents reported his disappearance to police at midnight. An extensive search of the area turned up no sign of him.

Michael Carl George served a 5-year sentence for involuntary manslaughter and abduction in the disappearance of Larry. George made statements to police that the boy was shot accidentally with a target pistol. George then led investigators to a wooded area near State Route 234 and Interstate 95, where he said the victim's body was buried. Larry's body was never found. George originally was charged with the boy's murder, but authorities agreed to the manslaughter plea because the victim's body was never found. George served two years of a five-year sentence before being released in 1986 on mandatory parole.

George was convicted of capital murder in the June 16, 1990, slaying of Alexander Eugene Sztanko in Prince William County. A jury found George guilty of abducting the boy as he rode a motorcycle along a dirt power line trail in Woodbridge. George was executed in 1997. Larry has never been found.
