Detectives have identified Donald Otis Williams, 50, as a person of interest. He was seen on surveillance cameras with Patrick at a Publix Supermarket on Monday.

Deputies say Williams is believed to have a tattoo of a surfboard on his left arm.

According to the sheriff's office, Williams is on sex offender probation and has been arrested in the past for armed carjacking, kidnapping, and sexual assault.

Patrick drives a white 2000 model Chevy Impala with the license tag number 195WAA.

Williams is described as a white male, 5 foot 9 inches tall with dark hair. He is believed to have a tattoo of a surfboard on his left arm.

Patrick is 5-foot-5 and 100 pounds, and short grey hair -- was wearing a green- and red-plaid short sleeved shirt.

An arrest warrant has been issued for Williams.

She has memory problems and is in a motorized wheelchair.

Praying for her safe return.
 
This poor woman... She makes me think of my grandmother- and if someone did this to her, I would want to tear him limb from limb... Even if she is "ok", she would be absolutely terrified.
But the fact that he is a sex-offender makes me feel ill... :(
 
Just got a tweet that the POI was arrested...no further info at this time.

I hope Ms. Janet is OK.

Patrick's missing car has also been found, but investigators won't say how they located it. The white 2000 Impala was found in a vacant business next to a Raceway gas station, located just south of I-4 on U.S. Hwy 27.

Patrick is still missing and authorities are urging the public to keep an eye for her.

It seems more and more lately perverts are victimizing our elderly. :furious:

They know they are generally more trusting and wanting to help someone. And they are taking advantage that the elderly may have physical or memory type problems.

This is so disturbing and sickening.
 
And WHY was this man even running loose ???!!!! He should have been 6 feet under with his criminal history .... imo

person of interest in the disappearance of a local elderly woman has been arrested in another case, and the woman's car has been located, police said Saturday night.

Donald Williams, 50, was arrested in Polk County on charges of violating probation.

Deputies said Williams was the last person seen with 81-year-old Janet Patrick.

The man last seen with a missing 81-year-old woman is in jail Sunday night and he is talking to News 13.

Donald Otis Williams, 50, was arrested for violating his sex offender probation but Lake County Sheriff's officials said he is the link to the disappearance of Janet Louise Patrick.

"I never harmed her," Williams said.

When Williams was asked where Patrick was, he said "You'll have to speak with my attorney."

Investigators said Williams is giving them information, but they won't go into details. Officials said time is not on their side with this case, given Patrick's age.

I don't believe the POI/suspect either....not to mention he can't keep his story straight & seems to be enjoying all the media attention . :sick:

I think there's some truth in his lies, but it's what *he* did to that little lady.

Thought I'd post the latest news from Monday - I believe there's a typo/error in the first story when it refers to Janet's CCs in "her" wallet as another article I read said the CCs were found in "his" wallet.

TAVARES — The homeless felon linked to a missing elderly Lake County woman told reporters today that a carjacker killed 81-year-old Janet Patrick of Leesburg and dumped her body in the woods — a story authorities say doesn't add up.

Donald Williams had Patrick's credit cards in her wallet when he was found with her car Saturday and he had borrowed a shovel from an acquaintance in Davenport in Polk County, officials said this afternoon.

Sticks and foliage were found in the trunk of Patrick's 2000 white Chevrolet Impala, which suggests that "Williams has been in a wooded area while driving the vehicle,'' the Lake County Sheriff's Office said in a statement.

"No evidence to support the carjacking claim has been found and Lake County detectives are coordinating with Polk County sheriff's detectives in hopes of locating Mrs. Patrick,'' the statement added.

POLK COUNTY, Fla. -- A search is under way in Polk County for any signs of a missing woman.

The Lake County Sheriff's Office said ATVs and other vehicles are being used to search along Cypress Parkway, near Poinciana.
A spokesman said the search would continue until dark and then resume in the morning.

Yea ok he was forced to dump her body from a carjacker but he just happened to have her credit cards in his wallet ok Mr Williams we believe you! should never have been out there! Poor lady!
