WI - Thomas Thornhill for brutal assault on 9yo girl, 2008

Just got a tweet requesting assistance in finding this monster.

Prayers for this little girl who underwent surgery that she gets everything she needs for her physical, mental & spiritual recovery.

A Milwaukee police official on Thursday asked for the public's help in finding a 36-year-old man charged with the brutal sexual assault of a 9-year-old girl, saying the man is "a monster (who) needs to be removed from the streets of Milwaukee and the United States as well."

Thomas Thornhill, wanted by Milwaukee WI LE

Capt. James Shepard said the case has been a priority since the girl was found bleeding profusely and sobbing in a north side alley on the morning of Jan. 22, suffering from life-threatening injuries after she was taken from her bed, carried into a van and assaulted.

The suspect, Thomas Thornhill of Milwaukee, was charged with 15 counts last month in connection with the girl's assault and with the violent sexual assault of a woman in 2008 based in part on DNA evidence that linked him to both crimes.

Thornhill became the prime suspect in the girl's assault after police identified his voice on a voice mail that the victim in the 2008 assault was leaving on another person's phone when she was attacked.

Thornhill may have left Milwaukee after police began focusing on him, but investigators suspect he is back in the city, Shepard said. A warrant for Thornhill's arrest was issued when he was charged.

What we are doing is just a drop in the ocean.
But if that drop was not in the ocean,
I think the ocean would be less because of that missing drop.

I wasn't clear at first. Thornhill abducted the child in January and they've linked him through DNA from an earlier sexual attack--in 2008. The police captain says that this case has been a priority since January. Is this the first request for help in finding him that the police have released on him?

    From the link above:

"In that case, a 29-year-old woman was leaving a voice mail for her boyfriend while walking to her apartment about 1:30 a.m. when police say Thornhill suddenly approached from behind and said something that sounded like, "Hey miss lady."

Thornhill punched the woman in the face, fracturing bones near her right eye. He then sexually assaulted her in a nearby alley..."

Thornhill did not know the woman, [Capt. James] Shepard said Thursday. Police played the voice mail that captured her attacker's voice for her family and friends, but Shepard said none of them recognized the voice.

Once the DNA evidence collected during the investigation of the girl's assault matched her attacker to the 2008 assault, police played the voice mail for people who knew the girl, Shepard said. A friend of the girl's family told police the voice was Thornhill's, according to the complaint...."

That sounds like some pretty fine detective work but it surely took a while. He's been out there since Janurary--10 months? It's hard to believe, given his viciousness, that he hasn't attacked again. Maybe he has......

That poor little girl. I can't even imagine. She was hospitalized for 10 days due to her injuries. I'm sure he left her for dead. It reminds me so much of the Kody Kaplon case of Siskiyou County, CA which is getting getting ready for trial. Kaplon also snatched a child from her bed and left her for dead in the mountains. Thank God some miners found her, nearly naked and cold. Kaplon had attempted to bury her.

These predators are going for blood. They don't really seem to care if they get caught. The captain is right in that Thornhill is a monster.

Suspect in brutal sex assault arrested in California

By Ryan Haggerty of the Journal Sentinel
    Nov. 1, 2010 4:52 p.m.

A 36-year-old man charged in September with the brutal sexual assault of a 9-year-old Milwaukee girl was arrested Monday in California, a police spokeswoman said.

Thomas Thornhill, a Milwaukee resident, was arrested by U.S. marshals in Riverside, Calif., Milwaukee police spokeswoman Anne E. Schwartz said.

Thornhill faces 15 counts in connection with the girl's assault and with the violent sexual assault of a 29-year-old woman in 2008, based in part on DNA evidence that linked him to both crimes.

Thank God!! That man had to be one of the scariest out there. Totally vicious. I will be shocked if there are no other victims. Thanks for posting this, TM.
