I happened to talk to him almost 40 years ago. This isn't bragging or real "name dropping" as I was merely a PBX operator who had been asked to locate his mother, actress Helen Hayes.

But I must say MacArthur could not have been nicer and spent some time on the phone with me, giving me suggestions as to how his mother might be located. (She was touring with a play at the time, hence the difficulty.)

I just read an article a couple weeks saying he was the only original cast member alive from the original "Hawaii 5-0."

    Such pretty blue eyes.

And, for fans of cultural cross-referencing, Australia's Radio Birdman with their great tribute "Aloha Steve & Danno" (lyrics here):

Hawaii Five-O was one of my favorite shows (I was a youngster, too). Rest in Peace, Danno.
