Case History
The victim was located in the woods along Longwood Street in Summerfield, Florida.

A small hole at the base of the skull that looked like a bullet hole was the only sign of a wound. Though no bullet was found near the bones, a spent .32 caliber bullet casing was found near the body.

The man was not dressed for a hike or any other outdoor activity. He was wearing fashionable clothes for the time.

Is this guy's chin and jawline spot-on or what?

Doe Network lists his height as 6'3". This is way off of the 5'6" estimate.

But nevertheless, I can't get over how closely their very unusual facial shapes match-up. Could they be that far off on the height estimate?

They list him as "possible Carribean descent", which usually indicates at least partially black. But the recon doesn't even remotely depict a black or admix facial structure.

Also, Florida is one of the places that he may have gone to following his disappearance.

This guy also has somewhat of a squared chin, his height matches, and he's from Florida (70 miles from where UID was found).

Mark Duane Woodard

The profile indicates a chipped front tooth. But the UID was missing the quite a few teeth (some antemortem and some postmortem), including 7 & 8, so we can't confirm the chipped tooth.

the only one I could find that is possibly a match, and my guy does not appear to be of mixed ethnicity is Steven Arrowood, NAMUS #2049.

looks like Steven might have been done in by a jealous husband who happened to be a long distance truck driver. however, Steven vanished in April 1975 and this UID was found almost 2 years later so it is probably not Steven.

Though he doesn't resemble the recon IMO; the only case I've known about with regards to a white/mixed male in Florida (during that time frame) is James Berkeley Norris who travelled to FL from CA in 1974.

*The doe link has more photos- James' chin is pronounced, but not still not sure....

It could be him since it's only 1 hr distance between Inglis (postcard) & Summerfield (body found). According to DoeNetwork photos, he indeed wearing fashionable clothes. He probably killed for carry 12K cash for drugs. Here's mapquest link:

KLCD620, you beat me to it :) I was just going to post the same thing. This distance from Inglis to Summerfield is an hour. The height estimation concerns me as well as the recons chin...I guess you could add dyed hair to that list of concerns as well. However if James was truly traveling under an assumed name "Richard Gunning" and meeting with drug dealers, I could see dying your hair to conceal your identity.

Nothing is listed in regards to James' teeth either to compare to the UID

James Norris can be ruled out. His remains were found in Dixie County in 1976 and have recently been positively id'd.

MARION COUNTY, Fla. —Human remains found in a wooded area of Marion County 39 years ago have been identified, authorities said.

The sheriff’s office said Wednesday that human remains found near County Road 467 and Southeast 145th Street in Summerfield on March 22, 1977, have been identified as those of Mark B. Woodard.

ETA: I believe this article is incorrect, should be Mark D. Woodard (not "B")

LAKELAND — Forty-one years after her brother went missing, Diann Wells said she feels like she has lost him all over again.

"He's been gone all these years and I came to accept that," said Wells, 62, her voice trailing off.
Mark Duane Woodard, who was 19 at the time of his disappearance, went missing April 14, 1975.
But Friday, detectives with the Polk County Sheriff's Office showed up at Wells' door to tell her remains found in 1977 were identified as those of her brother.
The remains were found in a wooded area by two people near County Road 467 and SE 145th Street in Summerfield, Marion County, on March 22, 1977. They weren't identified as Woodard's until June 23, said Lt. Ryan Robbins of the Marion County Sheriff's Office.

Rest in prace, Mr. Woodard. I'm glad you could finally go home.
