RENO, Nev. (AP) — Police say they believe a gunman who opened fire at a Walmart store where he worked in Nevada was about to be fired.

The man remains holed up Friday in the back of the Reno store where three workers were wounded early Friday.

Police identified the man as 45-year-old John Dennis Gillane.

I don't want to link as there's a child with Gillane in the default photo but he can be found on MS using his real name in Reno. Motto is "Country Boy will SURVIVE".

chilling to read that - especially since it seems like he didn't plan for some *other* people to survive...I wonder when he put that on his MS? I saw his last login was 10-24-2010.
 
No, I can't even imagine. I've never ever been around gunfire. My guess is that more than just "the women" were crying. Probably the saddest line in that article is from the man who says that this doesn't surprise him, "given the economic times we live in". I guess I'll never totally understand why some crack and some don't.

It is hard right now, but why bring others pain?

another article - says the shooter is a really nice guy, stuff just rolls off his back...one of his friends thinks he just snapped.

IDK-- lotsa people have lost their jobs, but what percentage goes to their workplace, especially a retail place like WalMart, and starts shooting?
 
That is sad to read. You almost wonder if the man typically took meds for anxiety or depression and couldn't afford them. Being that foreclosures have figured into so many deaths lately, I've wondered about the status of his home. There's no excuse but desperation always saddens me.

My prayers go out to all the families.

Possibly, he'd fallen behind on his rent. I got the impression from his MS that he must have been married but isn't now. He could have been through the financial ringer.
