Kidnapping for ransom leads San Jose police on frantic hunt, wild rescue

"An apparent kidnapping-for-ransom set San Jose police on a frantic hunt for the kidnappers and their victim, ending in a wild rescue in which the victim -- who had been bound with duct tape -- threw himself out a second floor window as police rounded up five suspects.

The unidentified male victim was hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries from his leap, and from being assaulted with an electric stun gun by his captors. When police went to the victim's home, they found found drugs there, according to a spokesman. He said investigators had not yet determined whether the kidnapping was related to the victim's alleged "illicit drug activity...."
