NM NM - Debra Horgan, 39, Albuquerque, 29 April 1997

Horgan was last seen in Albuquerque, New Mexico on April 29, 1997. She had been hired for a job at the Budget 8 Motel but never showed up for work.

On June 21, almost two months later, her white 1976 Ford Thunderbird was found in the west side of Albuquerque on Fortwna Road and West Coors Boulevard, abandoned and vandalized; it looked like it had been in an accident.
Clothing, bags, tennis shoes, and broken glass was scattered all over the back seat and floorboards of the Thunderbird.

Debra Marie Horgan (The Charley Project)
The second paragraph makes it seem like she's having an affair and that her boyfriend is kind of a bad egg. It states that she had to stay in the hospital after he raped and beat her. It also says that she left behind a husband and two kids Her boyfriend is never called an "ex" on anything I've seen of her going missing.

Is it possible that these remains found later in the year are Debra? Based on the information available it seems possible but there are very few details about the remains. They do give a description of the clothes found with the body but I haven't found any information about what Debra had been wearing the day she disappeared. I haven't seen the remains ruled out yet anywhere. Additionally, the Doe Network website estimates that the time of death had been months before they found the body. Debra was last seen April 29th, 1997. The remains were found October 14th, 1997.

you're right the boyfriend did something terrible to her before and maybe he brutally murdered her

Bumping up for Debra. She must have really lived in fear of her "boyfriend," IMO.

On the thread for NamUs #UP10290, it's stated that she has been ruled-out as that Jane Doe.

She has been missing for a long time. I wish LE would give her case another look.

I hope they check it again, maybe something will appear or someone who knows what happened or where the body is

Details of Disappearance​

Horgan was last seen on April 29, 1997 at the Budget 8 Motel in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She had been hired for a job, but never showed up for work.

On June 21, almost two months later, her white 1976 Ford Thunderbird was found on the west side of Albuquerque at Fortuna Road and west Coors Boulevard, abandoned and vandalized; it looked like it had been in an accident. A photograph of the car as it was found is posted with this case summary. Clothing, bags, sneakers, and broken glass was scattered all over the back seat and floorboards.

Horgan has never been heard from again. Her mother claims that, two weeks prior to her disappearance, Horgan's boyfriend raped and beat her badly enough to put her in the hospital. No charges were filed in the incident and it's unclear whether it's related to her later disappearance.

Horgan has lived in Memphis, Tennessee and Jackson and Tupelo, Mississippi. She has previously worked as a cook and waitress for schools and restaurants. She left behind two children when she went missing, as well as a husband; her husband died in September of 1997. Horgan's case remains unsolved. Foul play is suspected.
