Mother of Susan Taraskiewicz still seeking justice for slain daughter
By Travis Andersen | Globe Staff
September 15, 2013

Snipped:

Twenty-one years after her daughter’s body was found beaten and stabbed in a car in Revere, Marlene Taraskiewicz remains hopeful that the perpetrator of the gruesome slaying will be held accountable.

“You never let it go,” said Taraskiewicz, 71, of Peabody. “You pursue it and you get justice.

Authorities seek leads in 20-year-old unsolved slaying of Susan Taraskiewicz

After the newsconference Conley acknowledged that while his office and police are actively pursuing leads, no new suspects have been named nor do they have new evidence to share with the public.

“All I can say is for the past 20 years we’ve gotten little bits of information and explored many theories,” said Conley. “We are getting information, but it hasn’t risen to the point where we can charge someone.”

Connecting the Dots : Investigators, Prosecutors Have New Confidence in Public Call for Information to Solve 20-year-old Taraskiewicz Murder

“Each of us here believes this case can be solved,” said Conley. “Investigators believe, and I believe, that our best shot at solving Susan’s murder will be someone with direct knowledge of the person or persons who committed it. But we still hold out hope that someone out there has a key piece of evidence without realizing its importance. Maybe they saw her between the time she left Logan and was discovered here in Revere. Maybe they saw someone else driving her Tercel."

“The consensus among investigators and prosecutors is that someone knows who killed Susan,” he continued. “We believe very strongly that someone out there has personal knowledge that could close this case. Someone has the ability to end half a lifetime of waiting and wondering for Susan’s family and loved ones.”

One thing I have wondered, but have not found yet, and just looked again from the above articles is if she made it to the sandwich shop and got the food or was she killed before she made it to the sandwich shop.

Would you know the answer to the above question?
If I had to guess I would say no she didn't make it to the sandwich shop. But I just don't know.

And thank you for the updated links you provided.

We need a LEO here!

Was anything taken from her? Was robbery ruled out because nothing of hers was taken after the murder?
I am not really convinced this had to do with the crime at the airport. Though indications would lead you that way.

State officials released a video Sunday in hopes of gaining new leads on the cold case murder of a young airline worker who was killed 22 years ago this weekend...

At the time of Susan’s murder, a group of Northwest employees, not including Susan, were involved in a credit card theft ring. Susan, a ramp supervisor, had been enduring persistent sexual harassment by her male co-workers, according to State Police...

Taraskiewicz, who says she believes those involved in the credit card ring and harassment were involved in her daughter’s murder, pleads for those with any information to come forward.

The first link had the image. I cropped it twice, so WSers can zoom in. I know it's not much but it's a start.

"Local and state investigators believe that there are people who have information that could lead to the arrest of Susan's killer or killers, and are urging them to come forward. State police are encouraging anyone with information, "regardless of their current situation or circumstance," to contact the Suffolk County State Police Detective Unit at 617-727-8817"

I don't think this was a mob hit

Neither do I. I have always wondered if she just happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time. Thats why I wanted to know about the sandwiches. To know if she was killed before she arrived or after she left with the sandwiches. Was she abducted going in, or taken when coming out........The LEOS know the answer to the question. I wish they would answer.

Was this sandwich place in a bad area? Had she been there before?

Maybe it will be the sound of a grandchild’s laughter or a hug from a daughter just before she leaves for work one day.

Marlene Taraskiewicz is convinced some small act of domestic joy like a laugh or a hug will prompt someone to finally help solve the murder of her 27-year-old daughter, Susan, who was killed in Revere 24 years ago Wednesday.

“I know there are people out there who know about Susan’s murder,’’ she said in a telephone interview Monday while filming a video about her daughter’s death for use on the State Police Facebook page. “As the years go by and they have children and grandchildren . . . after a while, you just can’t live with it.”

In the years since her daughter’s death, Marlene Taraskiewicz has also lost her husband, Ronald Sr., and her son, Ronald Jr., but has never veered from her goal of learning who killed her daughter.

“I know this is something that I have to do for Susan,’’ said Taraskiewicz, who has one surviving child, her daughter, Deborah. “I know that Susan’s murder can and will be solved. I want to bring peace to my family and all of her friends.’’

"At the time of her death, other Northwest ramp employees were involved in a major credit card theft ring," State Police said in a Facebook post Wednesday. "Susan, who had endured vicious harassment from her co-workers, was not part of the ring."

Clear Channel Outdoor is donating electronic billboard space, starting Sept. 14, to help solicit information about the case. The new video and the billboard will be posted on the State Police's Facebook page and other media platforms in the coming days.

"Today, nearly a quarter of a century after her homicide, Susan's case remains extremely active," State Police said. "Investigators work the case every day, and know that there are people with knowledge of the murder who have not yet told what they know. Justice for Susan is long overdue. Help us speak for her and bring some peace to her family."

On Thursday, September 14, at 6:30 p.m. a vigil will be held to mark the 25th anniversary of the murder of Susan Taraskiewicz. The vigil will be held at World Series Park, 25 Dow St., Saugus (behind Belmonte Middle School). Family members and friends of Susan will share their memories of her, a priest will offer a blessing, and Susan's family will thank all those who have held her case close to their hearts over all the years. The public and media are invited. Susan's body was found in the trunk of her car, which was found parked outside an auto repair shop on Route 1A in Revere, on the morning of September 14, 1992. A couple of nights earlier, Susan had left from her job as a ramp crew chief at Logan Airport to pick up sandwiches for her co-workers. She never returned to her job or her home. Throughout the last quarter-century, Susan's homicide has been intensively investigated by the Massachusetts State Police and the Suffolk County District Attorney's Office. That investigation remains active today. Anyone with information about Susan's murder is urged to call the State Police Detective Unit for Suffolk County at 617-727-8817.

She did make it to the sandwich shop.

Susan Taraskiewicz Murder: State Police Determined To Solve Cold Case

Susan Taraskiewicz. (Photo credit: Mass. State Police)

Anyone with information is asked to call State Police at (617) 727-8817.

''REVERE (CBS) – It’s now been 28 years since Susan Taraskiewicz was found murdered, but Massachusetts State Police said Monday their determination to find her killer or killers is “as fierce today as it ever was.”

On September 13, 1992, Taraskiewicz left work at Logan Airport, where she was a ramp crew chief for Northwest Airlines, to get sandwiches for her co-workers. She never came back to work or to her home in Saugus.

The next day, she was found dead, beaten and stabbed, in the trunk of her car, which had been left outside an auto repair shop on Route 1A in Revere. Police think she was killed somewhere else and her body was driven to the shop.''

“Time passes, people and motivations change. Things that didn’t seem important suddenly do, and vice versa. Fears and worries shrink away, and pale in comparison to the realization of what is right and just. It is long past time for anyone who can help this family, to bring some peace, and to do right by Susan, to step up and do just that.”
