Witnesses told deputies that the elderly woman was pushed from the platform by the suspect, and that the act appeared to have been unprovoked, Coleman said.

Jackkqueline Pogue, 44, was arrested at the train station and was booked on suspicion of attempted murder. She was being held in lieu of $1 million bail.

I'm too scared to even take public transportation! Born and raised in the burbs. City stuff scares me, I can barely cross a city street.

Homeless woman charged in LA train track death

Authorities say a homeless woman has been charged with murder after an 84-year-old woman was pushed from a train platform onto tracks in Los Angeles.

The district attorney's office said Tuesday that 44-year-old Jackkqueline Pogue is being held on $1 million bail. She was not immediately arraigned.

The victim, Betty Sugiyama, died from the fall and was not hit by a train.

She and her 86-year-old sister Mary Sugiyama were walking on the platform Sunday when the attack occurred.

Mary Sugiyama tells The Associated Press the assailant remained calm and expressionless and didn't try to run away.

A jury decided Thursday that a homeless Los Angeles woman was legally insane when she pushed an 84-year-old woman from a train platform to her death.

A jury delivered its verdict Thursday after having earlier found Jackkqueline Pogue guilty of second-degree murder...

Pogue will likely be committed to a mental treatment hospital to be held until her sanity is restored.
