A woman and two children are dead and a man has been hospitalized in critical condition after all four were stabbed in a North Side apartment, police said.

I only see old cases (lots btw).
Can anyone find anything else?

First case listed: 2009xxx = Domestic Violence/Assault
Fourth: 2010xxx = OVI (operating while impaired)
(just hitting some highlights of his record before studying further ... lots involved traffic type things)

Wondering if 2009 Domestic Violence case involved victim. Child = age 2 (child of boyfriend)

I'm guessing at the 'CA' but I'm thinking Capital/FDM w/ Aggravating circumstances (children under 13 or some other horrible thing we don't know about yet)

I kept thinking "Capital", but could not connect the "A" part. Your guessing makes perfect sense.
 
I will never understand anyone taking the lives of innocent children.

My thoughts go out to Tia's family and friends.

In Ohio, the crimes of aggravated murder and murder are first degree felonies.
Here is the Ohio law on those crimes.

If the charges are upgraded to aggravated murder, I believe it will be on account of two of the victims being under 13 and the fact that more than one person was killed at that crime scene.

Same statutes will probably apply to both Matthew Hoffman and Caron Montgomery, if I'm understanding correctly (both DP cases).

Matthew Hoffman will have more charges added, still unknown.

So what's the CA mean? I'd already looked at the 2903.02 & 2929.02 & didn't see a correlation.

I'm guessing that for now, CA stands for Capital in the municipal court docket code.

Also, if you appeal a court case in Ohio, CA would stand for Court of Appeals as their dockets are listed as the year, then CA, and then the appeals case docket number.

I have a lot to learn about OH law. :)

OH's statutes are more confusing to read than other states (at least the ones I've poked around in from following cases), and this 'municipal court' is new to me, too...in TX, municipal is just city ordinance-related stuff, traffic tickets, etc...felonies & misdemeanors are state (District court).

Is Ohio's Court of Common Pleas the equivalent to a Texas District Court?

Each county in Ohio has a Municipal Court and a Common Pleas Court.

Municipal Court in Ohio is the lower county court that is similar to a District Court in other states. Local ordinance related stuff, traffic violations, and misdemeanors are handled in Municipal Court

Common Pleas Court is the higher county court that is similar to a Circuit Court in other states. Felonies and civil lawsuits are handled in Common Pleas Court.

The higher courts above the Common Pleas Courts in Ohio are the Court of Appeals, and then the Ohio Supreme Court.
