Search for missing brothers brings back painful memories of 2003 case
The case of the missing Skelton brothers has eerie similarities to another case that grabbed national attention more than 5 years ago.
You may recall, in July 2003 Manuel Gehring took his 14-year old daughter Sarah and 11-year old son Phillip to a Fourth of July fireworks show near their home in New Hampshire. That was the last time the siblings were seen alive.
Now authorities are not saying that the Skelton brothers are dead or what their father John Skelton did with them but they have predicted a bad outcome.

Volunteer searches for Skelton boys halted
For the past week, volunteers have trudged through muddy fields and climbed through ditches around this small southern Michigan town, searching for three young brothers last seen at their father's home on Thanksgiving Day.
It's a search that has consumed Morenci, a town of about 2,000 residents 75 miles southwest of Detroit, prompting the cancellation of Saturday's annual Christmas parade and shutting down City Hall so it could be used as a command center. So even with authorities saying they will suspend the official efforts during the weekend as they figure out what to do next, it's unlikely the volunteers will call stop looking for Andrew, 9, Alexander, 7, and Tanner Skelton, 5.

Morenci is not stranger to devastating tragedies
Seven weeks ago, Kelly Fletcher lost her 14-year-old son, Collin, in a hunting accident. Now she is mourning the losses of three other boys.
The children — Andrew, Alexander, and Tanner Skelton — may not be her own sons, but Mrs. Fletcher knows all too well what it's like when a child disappears. Her son went missing from the family's home outside Morenci in mid-October after he went out by himself to hunt. He was found a day later after an all-night search in a grassy area nearby, dead from a gunshot wound.

    Skelton boys called happy, helpful
For a town of fewer than 2,400 people, three missing boys are a personal affair.

The boys everyone in Morenci is focused on are Andrew, Alexander and Tanner Skelton, the elementary school students who have been missing since the day after Thanksgiving.
