One of the women has been identified by relatives as Jamie Broxson (pictured), 25, of Brownsville. According to Escambia County Circuit Court records, Broxson was released from the Escambia County Jail last week after being sentenced to probation on possession of drug paraphernalia and trespassing charges.

On Tuesday morning Sheriff’s investigators and members of the Escambia Search and Rescue Team (ESAR) searched the wooded area with cadaver dogs. These specially trained dogs are trained in detecting the odor of decomposing bodies. As of Tuesday afternoon no other remains had been located.

At first investigators did consider the fact they could have a serial killer on their hands, but after interviews with family, and with no more victims turning up at the scene, they feel it was a targeted crime commtted by someone both women knew.

"In my heart, I know who did it, I want to tell him, they're gonna get you."
Broxson believes her sister and the other dead woman both dated the same man.

The body that others identified as Broxson's is believed to have been there less than 72 hours, Welborn said. The condition of Jones' body suggests it had been there seven to 10 days.

About two weeks ago, Lowell said he noticed a small U-Haul minivan near the place the bodies were found. He does not know if the minivan is connected to the bodies, but he thought it looked out of place.

Debra Ann Jones, 19, was the second of two women whose bodies were found Monday in a wooded area next to the Gulf Power Co. substation off East Nine Mile Road in the Ensley area.

Jamie Broxson, 25, of Pensacola and Jones were found Monday in woods near Jernigan Road, next to the substation. Jones' body was badly decomposed.
Jones faced medical, family problems

Jones' stepgrandfather, Robert Mattson, 72, said she was disabled because of a heart defect.

She moved around frequently. One of her last known addresses was with Mattson in the 3100 block of East Olive Road.

Mattson said Jones' mother was an alcoholic who tore apart the family.

"I could never get close to her because of her mother," Mattson said.

Jones was described as a quiet, shy, polite and very respectful. He said he did not think Jones was involved in prostitution or other criminal activity.

I hate to say it but not many grandfathers are aware that their precious granddaughters (and grandsons!!) are involved in prostitution. These murders seem very similar to those of Angela Brooks and Nancy Cushman in Augusta, GA on Thanksgiving. Trafficking can be lethal. My guess is that Jamie was getting near the end of her "career" and Debra might have just started. JMO

"Jamie Broxson's family desperately wanted her to come home. Her troubles were piling up. She used drugs. She was arrested on various crimes, including prostitution and possession of cocaine...."

and

".....the general manager of Sammy's strip club in downtown Pensacola, said that many dancers come and go and lead lives comparable to transients.

"It's pretty common. They move back and forth from these hotels," he said. "One week they're at one, the next week they're at another, then they'll be sleeping on the floor of someone's house...."

and

"....her name didn't appear in his database, but he said his system's records date back only to January. He also said she might be listed in his system under her stage name, which is not known...."

Folks, these are our daughters, our nieces, the girl next door. Their only value, it seems it to earn their pimp or their manager some money with their bodies. We can do better than this for them. The pimps and traffickers go after the most vulnerable and beat them down to such a level that the young women believe they can never go home. Once, they are "used up", they are often discarded. That breaks my heart.

Rest in peace, Jamie and Debra.

Second Body Found In Pensacola Woods Identified

The Escambia County Sheriff's Office says 19-year-old Debra Ann Jones is one of two women found Monday afternoon near the University of West Florida campus.

The Sheriff's Office identified them one of them as 19-year-old Debra Ann Jones. They also confirmed what family members told News 5 on Tuesday. The other woman is 25 year old Jamie Broxson.

(Snipped)

The Sheriff's Office will not say Broxson and Jones died, but they do suspect foul play. One of the bodies had been there at least a week. The other three days or less.

Two bodies dumped in the same location within a week or so of each other. Pensacola might have a serial killer possibly targeting prostitutes. JMO

The second woman appears to be Debra Ann Jones. I'm still looking for the link.

Salem

PENSACOLA — Escambia County sheriff's investigators have interviewed two people of interest in the murders of two young women whose bodies were discovered Monday near a Gulf Power Co. substation, Sheriff David Morgan said Thursday.

"We're verifying their alibis," Morgan said. "It's a long process."
..........................
Morgan said he has no indication that the killer is responsible for other unsolved murders locally. And he said he's confident, following an extensive search by cadaver dogs, that there are no additional bodies near the substation.

"If I had any indication this was a serial killer, I would announce that to the public," he said. "We have no other murders that would match what we know at this time."
