Within Temptation "Our Farewell"

[ame]http://rutube.ru/tracks/448826.html?v=77da8e9981e03adf3c533a75f1d39d6a[/ame]

http://www.56.com/u19/v_MTkyNjM1NjA.html

In my hands
A legacy of memories
I can hear you say my name
I can almost see your smile
Feel the warmth of your embrace
But there is nothing but silence now
Around the one I loved
Is this our farewell?

Sweet darling, you weep too much, my child
See the sadness in your eyes
You are not alone in life
Although you might think that you are

Never thought
This day would come so soon
We had no time to say goodbye
How can the world just carry on?
I feel so lost when you are not at my side
But there is nothing but silence now
Around the one I loved
Is this our farewell?

Sweet darling, you weep too much, my child
See the sadness in your eyes
You are not alone in life
Although you might think that you are

So sorry your world is tumbling down
I'll watch you through these nights
Rest your head and go to sleep
Because my child, this is not our farewell.
This is not our farewell.

"I can't agree more. Just reading this my throat is choked up and I want to hold this child and cry for her. There are so many monsters in this world.I pray her little soul is at piece and all thoughts of her poor little life have been erased and she can only feel love and joy now.No child should ever have to endure such horrors. There may not be boogey men under the bed or in the closet but they are out there in real life walking among us each and every day hiding in plain site."

Hilary Hahn and Josh Ritter Play Girl in the War

[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qb5Ax6eT8aA[/ame]
[ need to turn your volume up to max to hear it ]

Peter said to Paul
"All those words that we wrote
Are just the rules of the game and the rules are the first to go"
But now talkin' to God is Laurel beggin' Hardy for a gun
I gotta girl in the war, man I wonder what it is we done

Paul said to Peter
"You gotta rock yourself a little harder;
Pretend the dove from above is a dragon and your feet are on fire"
And I got a girl in the war, Paul the only thing I know to do
Is turn up the music and pray that she makes it through

Because the keys to the kingdom got locked inside the kingdom
And the angels fly around in there, but we can't see them
And I gotta girl in the war, Paul I know that they can hear me yell
If they can't find a way to help, they can go to Hell
If they can't find a way to help her, they can go to Hell

Paul to Peter "you gotta rock yourself a little harder;
Pretend the dove from above is a dragon and your feet are on fire"
But I gotta girl in the war, Paul her eyes are like champagne
They sparkle, bubble over, in the morning all you got is rain
Sparkle, bubble over, in the morning all you got is rain
They sparkle, bubble over, in the morning all you got is rain

"I feel helpless when I hear about the atrocities that are happening every single day. How do we keep producing these vile, hideous monsters? Some want to blame God. I blame a society that chooses to ignore the specific rules put down for us to abide by. I blame the system that makes crime, bad behavior, sexual devience a media circus in which we all participate. Finally, I blame the fact that most people become numb to such heinous behavior. We wait until the next horrible crime to occur before getting sick and demanding changes. We should never stop demanding change to protect these small, innocent lives from such cruelty.

Sadly, I am just as guilty as the next person."

There is a LOT of angst being expressed, & people are severely depressed. Here & elsewhere. Hopefully, music can provide some "healing". On the eve of the upcoming Zahra Baker memorial (private only).

"The more details that come out in this case, the more depressingly wretched and humanly uncomprehensible. Cases like this are so heinous that it is hard to read about them without shedding tears for the little innocent victim."

"This crime defies description in its cruelty. No one that could properly fit the definition of''human'' could have done what has come to light so far in the death and desecration of Zahra. NO punishment is harsh enough for whomever is ultimately convicted in this girls death. It was pointed out that Zahra wished to remain in her native Australia, only to be dragged to the backwoods of N.C. where she was allegedly abused and murdered all the while suffering from cancer.Unbelievable and add to the fact that the perp(s) will probably cop a plea deal since it was reported that N.C. has put the death penalty on the back burner indefinitely."

==========

"Art imitating Life"
"Life imitating Art"

There are some eerie/CREEPY parallels between the Zahra Baker case (backwoods of North Caroline) & the fictional movie "The Village" (psychological horror film).

The Village (2004 film)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Village_(2004_film)

The movie starts out at a funeral of a child in a small village. The death date on the tombstone establishes the date as 1897. As the story progresses, it is revealed the villagers live in fear of nameless creatures in the woods that surround the village. They have built a barrier of oil lanterns and watch towers that are constantly manned to keep watch for "Those We Don't Speak Of", who are spoken of numerous times early in the film. It is explained that the villagers have a long-standing truce with the monsters; the villagers do not go into their woods, and the creatures do not enter their village. Even so, dead, skinned bodies of small animals are starting to appear around the village.

..

While Ivy is traveling through the forest, one of the beasts suddenly attacks her. She tricks it into falling into a deep hole to its death. It is then that the second plot twist is revealed — the creature is actually Noah in a costume that he had found under the floor of the room where he was kept locked from others. It is implied in that scene that it was Noah who had been skinning the animals all along.

Ivy eventually finds her way to the edge of the woods, where she encounters a large wall. After she climbs over the wall the final plot twist is revealed: the film is set in the present day (a newspaper in one scene shows July 30, 2004, the date of the film's release). A park ranger driving a Land Rover with the words "Walker Wildlife Preserve" on the side spots Ivy and is shocked to hear that she has come out of the woods. He then learns that Ivy's last name is "Walker."

Interpreation of "Girl in the War"

http://www.songmeanings.net/songs/view/3530822107858586566/1/ASC/#comment

"Sorry guys....this song is obviously not a war song or any sort of political reference. Its simply a beautifully poignant lyric about a woman fighting cancer and her loved one questioning his faith while watching her suffer. He is looking for some divine intervention to save her and 'if they can't find a way to help her they can go to Hell'. "
-- KingBillyScotland

"1. Assuming weakmorals is not a dirty liar, the Iraq war two has something to do with this- but there's a lot more.

2. Regardless of what Ritter's religious beliefs are, i think the realigious references are symbolic, but mostly a way to tell the story

3. I think the story is about a messed up world that has forgotten "the rules." and I think the "girl" is possibly a daughter. There isn't enough about romantic love. "eyes like champagne" are in reference to crying, not merely beauty.

4. Basically he is scared about a daughter he brought into a world that seems to be falling apart- i hope she makes it through.

he probably doesn't even have a daughter... anyway, this is what i think, and i'm right because i know everything "
-- kbriggs2

"My boyfriend gave me a mix CD of all the songs that remind him of me and this song happened to be on it. So I assume in this song that he is much like the person singing the song and I am much like her.

I think it might be about a real girl.
I think the war might just be general turmoil, conflict, or hardship of day to day life. She seems like she's either dying or wanting to die. He wants desperately to see her make it and pull through.

"Because the keys to the kingdom got locked inside the kingdom
And the angels fly around in there, but we can't see them
And I gotta girl in the war, Paul I know that they can hear me yell
If they can't find a way to help her, they can go to Hell"

If someone you loved was broken wide open how much would you pray for them? How disappointed would be when nothing changed. When you love someone it kills you to watch them suffer, it hurts you just as much if not more.

"But I gotta girl in the war, Paul her eyes are like champagne
They sparkle, bubble over, in the morning all you got is rain"

She cries. She hurts. He wants that to change.
But what can he do? Appeal to Paul and Peter.
"
-- ecanbeforelephant

"Peter said to Paul
"All those words that we wrote
Are just the rules of the game and the rules are the first to go"

Peter is the Rock of the Church, a disciple of Christ, and the author of a book in the Bible. St. Paul is the author of many books in the Bible. The rules Ritter talks about is the Bible. Ritter says the Bible's rules are easily ignored.

But now talkin' to God is Laurel beggin' Hardy for a gun--

Laurel and Hardy were a old-time, silent comedy team. Laurel would always end up hurting Hardy and be unaware of the mistakes. Ritter means we pray for God to grant us gifts such as wisdom, (think Adam eating from the tree of knowledge) but really when end up destroying ourselves and our relationship with God.

I gotta girl in the war, man I wonder what it is we done

I think the war is the moral struggle existing in life. We are all responsible for the war. I think the girl represents innocence and the everyman.

Paul said to Peter
"You gotta rock yourself a little harder;

Jesus proclaimed Peter to be the Rock or foundation of the Catholic Church. Ritter may be saying we need more of a foundation.

Pretend the dove from above is a dragon and your feet are on fire"

the Dove is the Holy Spirit as we find in the baptism of Christ. So, pretend the Holy Spirit is demanding you to act.

And I got a girl in the war, Paul the only thing I know to do
Is turn up the music and pray that she makes it through
Because the keys to the kingdom got locked inside the kingdom

God gave Peter the keys to the heaven. Apparently the way to heaven is known now only in heaven. (Possibly it is that) We have forgotten how to live righteously.

And the angels fly around in there, but we can't see them

we on Earth no longer know the holiness and beauty which exist in heaven

And I gotta girl in the war, Paul I know that they can hear me yell

He's preaching to the one's causing the strife and hardships on Earth. They should help this girl.

If they can't find a way to help, they can go to Hell

Ritter does not think those who hear the call of righteousness yet refuse should find salvation.

Paul to Petey "you gotta rock yourself a little harder;
Pretend the dove from above is a dragon and your feet are on fire"
But I gotta girl in the war, Paul her eyes are like champagne

not only is she innocent but filled with wonder

They sparkle, bubble over, in the morning all you got is rain

the wonder eventually leads to apathy or despression because the world or "war"

Sparkle, bubble over, in the morning all you got is rain
They sparkle, bubble over, in the morning all you got is rain"
-- jpw1019

Eerie.

"We are the music makers, and we are the dreamers of dreams."
-- Willy Wonka

Josh Ritter is a philosopher (via music), who describes the general despair (tragedy) of society. Sure enough, all these child-abuse cases are reflected by his poetry. Incredible ballad for Zahra Baker.

"You can deny Responsibility, but you cannot deny Accountability"
-- from 9/11 attacks

People are talking about Accountability & Closure for Zahra Baker. One way is to get a "brand-name" song & singer, to further the cause. Josh Ritter (folk singer/writer) & Hilary Hahn (classical violinist, rising star) are perfect.

"I don't know what to say. This just leaves me speechless. I really can not believe the depravity of some of those around us. My prayers for this little girl. I pray that she is in the arms of a loving God and will never know hurt ever again."
-- Dave Smith
http://world-news.newsvine.com/_new...-missing-girl-case?pc=25&sp=25#discussion_nav

People are talking about the Legacy of Zahra: societal impact ("there will be change") & her after-life ("in heaven"). How about:

"may her spirit live on, in all of us"

which might be a deterrent to future tragedies. I.e., a "re-birth" of Zahra.

Musical - Cats [ Memory ]
[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UyIVy73AmWQ[/ame]

"At rise, the audience finds itself in a huge junkyard. Onstage, a special breed of cats known as Jellicle cats are making their way to the junkyard (Jellicle Songs for Jellicle Cats).
...
But the most special thing about Jellicle cats is that they are able to have the opportunity to be reborn, which is the reason the Jellicle cats gather together in the junkyard that night. It is the night of the annual Jellicle Ball, where Old Deuteronomy, the eldest Jellicle cat, "through a silence you can cut with a knife announces the cat that is to be reborn." (Invitation to the Jellicle Ball)."

Eerie.

The Cats musical has the setting of a junkyard (which was a pivotal area in Zahra's demise). And, the cats are talking about "re-birth".

Daylight
See the dew on the sunflower
And a rose that is fading
Roses whither away
Like the sunflower
I yearn to turn my face to the dawn
I am waiting for the day . . .

Now, all .... just before dawn through a silence you can cut with a knife announces the cat that is to be reborn.

Midnight
Not a sound from the pavement
Has the moon lost her memory?
She is smiling alone
In the lamplight
The withered leaves collect at my feet
And the wind begins to moan

Memory
All alone in the moonlight
I can smile at the old days
I was beautiful then
I remember the time I knew what happiness was
Let the memory live again

Every streetlamp
Seems to beat a fatalistic warning
Someone mutters
And the streetlamp gutters
And soon it will be morning

Daylight
I must wait for the sunrise
I must think of a new life
And I musn't give in
When the dawn comes
Tonight will be a memory too
And a new day will begin

Burnt out ends of smoky days
The stale cold smell of morning
The streetlamp dies, another night is over
Another day is dawning

Touch me
It's so easy to leave me
All alone with the memory
Of my days in the sun
If you touch me
You'll understand what happiness is

Look
A new day has begun

A Country Music interpretation on Zahra Baker:

Skeeter Davis - the End of the World
[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K7nWr31_RXA[/ame]

Why does the sun go on shining?
Why does the sea rush to shore?
Don't they know it's the end of the world,
'Cause you don't love me any more?

Why do the birds go on singing?
Why do the stars glow above?
Don't they know it's the end of the world.
It ended when I lost your love.

I wake up in the morning and I wonder,
Why everything's the same as it was.
I can't understand. No, I can't understand,
How life goes on the way it does.

Why does my heart go on beating?
Why do these eyes of mine cry?
Don't they know it's the end of the world.
It ended when you said goodbye.

Why does my heart go on beating?
Why do these eyes of mine cry?
Don't they know it's the end of the world.
It ended when you said goodbye.

Society failed Zahra, she deserved way better

A smile hid little Zahra Baker's pain
http://www.heraldsun.com.au/ipad-ap...ahra-bakers-pain/story-fn6bfmgc-1225956907157

"IT took Zahra Baker to die, it seems, before she was ever truly loved. That is not her failure, but ours.

Here was a young girl born to misery. Indeed, when you read the increasing news reports, you wonder if there was a day in her life when she was ever free from pain, ever truly happy. Born to a mum who gave her away, she died under a father who has to declare he did not dismember her body.

All the while in between she lost.

She lost her family and she lost her home town, forced to follow her father overseas. She lost her hearing. Lost her leg. She very nearly lost her life - and then she did.

Her life was an uphill road. Too hard, if there was any fairness in this world, for one too young.

Maybe that is why, on Tuesday, thousands of people in two countries turned out for a little girl they did not know. They all sang. Some wept. They held candles in cups with R.I.P Zahra penned on the side. It would have been her 11th birthday."

Count On Me Lyrics

If you ever find yourself stuck in the middle of the sea,
I'll sail the world to find you
If you ever find yourself lost in the dark and you can't see,
I'll be the light to guide you

Find out what we're made of
What we are called to help our friends in need

You can count on me like 1 2 3
I'll be there
And I know when I need it I can count on you like 4 3 2
And you'll be there
Cause that's what friends are supposed to do, oh yeah

Wooooh, Wooooh
That's what friends are supposed to do, oh yeah
You can count on me cause I can count on you

Wooooh, Wooooh
yeah Yeah

If you toss and you turn and you just can't fall asleep
I'll sing a song
beside you
And if you ever forget how much you really mean to me
Everyday I will
remind you

Ohh
Find out what we're made of
What we are called to help our friends in need

You can count on me like 1 2 3
I'll be there
And I know when I need it I can count on you like 4 3 2
And you'll be there
Cause that's what friends are supposed to do, oh yeah

Wooooh, Wooooh
Yeah Yeah

You'll always have my shoulder when you cry
I'll never let go
Never say goodbye

You can count on me like 1 2 3
I'll be there
And I know when I need it I can count on you like 4 3 2
And you'll be there
Cause that's what friends are supposed to do, oh yeah

Wooooh, Wooooh
you can count on me cos' I can count on you

For just one chance to find
Love with someone that you loved to find
For just the sense to try
To walk ahead and leave the pain behind
If the days aren’t easy and the nights are rough
When they ask you what you’re thinking of

Say love, say for me love
Say love, say for me love

Your heart says not again
What kind of mess have you got me in
But when the feelings there
It can lift you up and take you anywhere
But the gravel beneath you and the limbs above
If anybody asks you where your coming from

Say love, say for me love
Say love, say for me love

Say yes we live uncertainty
And disappointments have to be
And everyday we might be facing more
And yes we live in desperate times
But fading words and shaking rhymes
There’s only one thing here worth hoping for
With Lucifer beneath you and God above
If either one of them asks you what your living of

Say love, say for me love
Say love, say for me love
Say love, say for me love

Music has always been a huge part of my life. I've turned to it over and over in tough times...such a great way to release emotions and express our feelings.

Here are a few songs I wanted to post for sweet little Zahra:

I had posted this in another thread a few weeks ago, but thought it might be nice to put it here as well. My own tribute to Zahra and other abused children.

Universal Child by Annie Lennox
How many mountains must you face before you learn to climb.
I'm gonna give you what it takes, my universal child.

I'm gonna try to find a way to keep you safe from harm.
I'm gonna be a special place, a shelter from the storm.
And I can see you, your everywhere, your portrait fills the sky.
I'm gonna wrap my arms around you, my universal child.

And when I look into your eyes, so innocent and pure.
I see the shadow of the things that you've had to endure.
I see the tracks of every tear that ran right down your face.
I see the hurt, I see the pain, I see the human race.
I can feel you, your everywhere, shining like the sun.
And I wished to god that kids like you could be like everyone.

How many tumbles must it take before you learn to fly.
I'm going to help you spread your wings, my universal child.

I’m gonna help you find a way
To keep you safe from harm
We’re gonna build a special place
A shelter from the storm
I can feel you
You’re everywhere
Shining like the sun
And I wish to god
That kids like you
Could be like everyone

She walks to school with the lunch she packed
Nobody knows what she's holdin' back
Wearin' the same dress she wore yesterday
She hides the bruises with linen and lace

The teacher wonders but she doesn't ask
It's hard to see the pain behind the mask
Bearing the burden of a secret storm
Sometimes she wishes she was never born

Through the wind and the rain
She stands hard as a stone
In a world that she can't rise above
But her dreams give her wings
And she flies to a place where she's loved
Concrete angel

Somebody cries in the middle of the night
The neighbors hear, but they turn out the lights
A fragile soul caught in the hands of fate
When morning comes it'll be too late

Through the wind and the rain
She stands hard as a stone
In a world that she can't rise above
But her dreams give her wings
And she flies to a place where she's loved
Concrete angel

A statue stands in a shaded place
An angel girl with an upturned face
A name is written on a polished rock
A broken heart that the world forgot

Through the wind and the rain
She stands hard as a stone
In a world that she can't rise above
But her dreams give her wings
And she flies to a place where she's loved
Concrete angel

Time to say goodbye Sarah Brightman Andrea Bocelli
[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qtivSTZrezc[/ame]

Quando sono solo
Sogno all'orizzonte
E mancan le parole
Si lo so che non c'?luce
In una stanza
Quando manca il sole
Se non ci sei tu con me, con me.
Su le finestre
Mostra a tutti il mio cuore
Che hai acceso
Chiudi dentro me
La luce che
Hai incontrato per strada

Time to say goodbye
Paesi che non ho mai
Veduto e vissuto con te
Adesso si li vivro.
Con te partiro
Su navi per mari
Che io lo so
No no non esistono piu
It's time to say goodbye.

Quando sei lontana
Sogno all'orizzonte
E mancan le parole
E io si lo so
Che sei con me con me
Tu mia luna tu sei qui con me
Mio sole tu sei qui con me
Con me con me con me

Time to say goodbye
Paesi che non ho mai
Veduto e vissuto con te
Adesso si li vivro.
Con te partiro
Su navi per mari
Che io lo so
No no non esistono piu
Con te io li rivivro.
Con te partiro
Su navi per mari
Che io lo so
No no non esistono piu
Con te io li rivivro.
Con te partiro
Io con te.

English Translation:

Time to Say Goodbye
----------------------

When I'm alone
I dream on the horizon
And words fail;
Yes, I know there is no light
In a room
Where the sun is not there
If you are not with me.
At the windows
Show everyone my heart
Which you set alight;
Enclose within me
The light you
Encountered on the street.

Time to say goodbye,
To countries I never
Saw and shared with you,
Now, yes, I shall experience them,
I'll go with you
On ships across seas
Which, I know,
No, no, exist no longer;
With you I shall experience them.

When you are far away
I dream on the horizon
And words fail,
And yes, I know
That you are with me;
You, my moon, are here with me,
My sun, you are here with me.
With me, with me, with me,

Time to say goodbye,
To countries I never
Saw and shared with you,
Now, yes, I shall experience them,
I'll go with you
On ships across seas
Which, I know,
No, no, exist no longer;
With you I shall re-experience them.
I'll go with you
On ships across seas
Which, I know,
No, no, exist no longer;
With you I shall re-experience them.
I'll go with you,
I with you.

James Taylor - "Fire & Rain"

[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cwugjyeSKx4[/ame]

"I listened to this song the other day, and cried. I have been listening to this brilliant performer for nearly a year now, and not once welled up, but that time i'd just realised what he was singing about. It's a horrible thing to lose all contact with a friend or a loved one due to your own stupidity and slow thinking. James brings this pain to the fore in this beautiful song, but it's nice to know that someone else understands your pain."
-- 17hongo

"Its a fragile thing, this life we carry around day to day. Im a fireman and seen some very final stuff. its random and it always amazes me that we never think it can happen to us X Love and peace to you my friend"
-- Davyroyal

Just yesterday morning they let me know you were gone
Susanne the plans they made put an end to you
I walked out this morning and I wrote down this song
I just can't remember who to send it to

I've seen fire and I've seen rain
I've seen sunny days that I thought would never end
I've seen lonely times when I could not find a friend
But I always thought that I'd see you again

Won't you look down upon me, jesus
You've got to help me make a stand
You've just got to see me through another day
My body's aching and my time is at hand
And I won't make it any other way

Oh, I've seen fire and I've seen rain
I've seen sunny days that I thought would never end
I've seen lonely times when I could not find a friend
But I always thought that I'd see you again

Been walking my mind to an easy time my back turned towards the sun
Lord knows when the cold wind blows it'll turn your head around
Well, there's hours of time on the telephone line to talk about things
To come
Sweet dreams and flying machines in pieces on the ground

Oh, I've seen fire and I've seen rain
I've seen sunny days that I thought would never end
I've seen lonely times when I could not find a friend
But I always thought that I'd see you, baby, one more time again, now

Thought I'd see you one more time again
There's just a few things coming my way this time around, now
Thought I'd see you, thought I'd see you fire and rain, now

from Wikipedia "Fire & Rain"

On the VH1 series Story Tellers, Taylor said the song was actually about several incidents during his early recording career. The second line of the song is "Suzanne the plans they made put an end to you" refers to Suzanne Schnerr, a friend of his who died suddenly while he was away recording his first album. In that same account, Taylor said he had been in a deep depression after the failure of his new band The Flying Machine to coalesce (the lyric "sweet dreams and Flying Machines in pieces on the ground"; the reference is to the name of the band rather than a fatal plane crash, as was long rumored).
As he was wondering what to do with himself, Schnerr's death drove him to see beyond his own worries and realize the transience of life and his need to get back to his old friends

I'm so tired of being here, suppressed by all my childish fears
And if you have to leave, I wish that you would just leave
Your presence still lingers here and it won't leave me alone

These wounds won't seem to heal, this pain is just too real
There's just too much that time cannot erase

When you cried, I'd wipe away all of your tears
When you'd scream, I'd fight away all of your fears
And I held your hand through all of these years
But you still have all of me

You used to captivate me by your resonating light
Now, I'm bound by the life you left behind
Your face it haunts my once pleasant dreams
Your voice it chased away all the sanity in me

These wounds won't seem to heal, this pain is just too real
There's just too much that time cannot erase

When you cried, I'd wipe away all of your tears
When you'd scream, I'd fight away all of your fears
And I held your hand through all of these years
But you still have all of me

I've tried so hard to tell myself that you're gone
But though you're still with me, I've been alone all along

When you cried, I'd wipe away all of your tears
When you'd scream, I'd fight away all of your fears
And I held your hand through all of these years
But you still have all of me, me, me

Slow Your Breath Down
by: Future of Forestry
************************
This chest is full of memories
Of gold and silver tears
I’ll give you more to own than all of this
And I’ll give you more than years
For you were once a child of innocence
And I see you just the same
Your burdens couldn’t win or lose a thing
Oh, I’d tell you once again
But you’re always on the run

Slow your breath down
Just take it slow
Find your heart now, oh
You can trust and love again
Slow your breath down, just take it slow
Find your smile now, oh
You can trust and love again

If you leave I’ll still be close to you
When all your fears rain down
I’ll take you back a thousand times again
I’ll take you as my own
I would sing you songs of innocence
‘Til the light of morning comes
‘Til the rays of gold and honey cover you
In the sweetness of the dawn
But you’re always on the run

You’re not alone
You’re now a part of me
You feel the cure
I’ll feel the toil it brought you

Unfortunately, I cannot post a video clip from this computer. But if you look for it, the song is on You Tube.. and it's quite poignant. Makes me think of Zahra and her struggles

"The announcer says something like, "Death separated the couple, but their skating will live always." Absolutely."
-- ravenel2

"Everything about their skating was magical. I don't think anyone fully appreciated just what they were watching until it was gone. Such a tragedy that something and someone so much larger than life was here for such a short time. The sport of pairs skating will never see another G and G, I'm sure. Sergei is so missed. What I wouldn't give to watch their love story unfold on the ice just one more time."
