Roanoke case hits close to home locally
The Roanoke County case of a missing 12-year-old girl “hits close to home” for local authorities and residents.

Henry County Sheriff Lane Perry said the abduction of Brittany Smith, 12, of Salem, brings back memories of the disappearance of Jennifer Renee Short, 9, of Oak Level, eight years ago.
Jennifer’s parents, Michael and Mary Short, were found shot to death in their Oak Level home in August 2002. Each suffered a single gunshot wound to the head, police said.

Police no closer to finding missing girl after two false sightings in Florida
Someone called in a tip to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office Thursday morning, but it was just one of two false alarms on day one of the Florida-based search for 12-year-old Brittany Smith.
Police told WOKV's Adam Kirk that a man was detained at the Walmart store on San Jose, but after questioning was let go. Police in West Palm Beach also questioned a man at a gas station who was falsely identified as Easley.

Unfruitful time lapse in search for 12 year old concerns police chief
The grainy photo of Brittany Smith leaving the Salem Walmart a week ago with the man police say abducted her shows the 12-year-old girl clasping her hands, or perhaps picking at her fingernails.
At her side, Jeffrey Easley, her slain mother's 32-year-old boyfriend, pushes a shopping cart loaded with a tent, bottled water, Gatorade and camping equipment.
The picture, the last confirmed sighting of Brittany and Easley, betrays no clues that tell whether the child is a hostage or a willing companion, Roanoke County investigators said.

How was the parade? Were there a lot of people there even though it was cold? HaHa.

Just a warning guys, we are live right now.

Now Tina Smith can be laid to rest.
May she get justice now!

Thank GOD she is safe and alive, her family must be thrilled! I am so glad we get a happy ending of sorts.

Britany is a very lucky girl to be safe and found!
Her mom must of been her guardian angel!!

Should be no problem with extradition. There was a guy on death row in CA who was extradited here to VA for a trial. Didn't make much sense to me, but I guess they were tying up loose ends.
