Ugh, I have so many questions and there are so few answers...
Why have they not been able to talk to the X?
Was he familiar with this area?
Why that park, it's not exactly near anything?
Why did the Rangers wait 4 days before they decided to call it in?
There were cords and mouse in the car, but no laptop?
Bad bad weather is headed this way starting on Friday. There is a chance this guy didn't walk off to commit suicide, and could have fallen and be out there.

Deputies are actively searching the park for Jonathan Ian Frank, 57, after finding a black Kia station wagon with Pennsylvania plates registered in his name parked in the day-use lot since Saturday.
Frank, 57, and his wife, Judy Yamada Frank, have recent addresses in Southern California and New Hope, Pennsylvania.

"It's my understanding that he may have either lost his job or his business. He may be upset or despondent with some of life circumstances and that gives us some concern that he may have a handgun and maybe considered taking his own life," said Lt. Fred Plageman with the Santa Cruz Sheriff's Office.

Hart said at 11:30 a.m. today deputies were able to reach Judy's father, who told them the two had separated in May.
Investigators checked his financial records, which show he was recently in the San Francisco Bay Area, for about two weeks, including the San Carlos and Burlingame areas, he said. Frank does not have a criminal history.
His car has a Pennsylvania license plate of "PISMO". Hart said it was unclear what that plate references.

Sorry to flood this thread with posts, but kept finding different news links.
It is looking a little scary for Jonathan F.
Lost his job or business, he and his wife are seperated, he has been
in CA for 2 weeks, and then his car has been sitting in since Sat., with ammo
I can only hope he is found safe and can be well again.

The search will continue today in Big Basin Redwoods State Park for a missing man who may be carrying a weapon and upset about job and marital troubles, authorities said Wednesday night.
His car has a Pennsylvania license plate of "PISMO." Hart said it was unclear what that plate references. Someone bought a day-use parking pass for the car about noon Saturday, deputies said.
Items found in the car include a black suitcase, green hiking shoes, clothing, a computer mouse, small electronic cords, a AAA map of the Bay Area and a white towel. Authorities planned to move the car to another location Wednesday night for "safe keeping," Plageman said.

Buzzard's Roost, McAbee Peak, Berry Creek Falls, and Simerviren Falls loop would be the first areas I would check. Well, the first thing I would do would be a trailing dog from the vehicle, being that they have a PLS, a scent article in the car and everything they need.
