I hope they figure out who this is quickly! It is amazing to me that bones are just laying all over the U.S.--just waiting to be found. Mindboggling to say the least!

I did a search on missing persons in South Carolina and these are the two I came up with closest to Calhoun county. I am sure there are more so I will search more but these are the two that popped right up. They disappeared from other counties but they were near enough to Calhoun to consider.

There is just nothing really to go on in the article. There is not an age, gender, or race. I would like to know more.

It is horrifying that bones are being found with no idea as to who they are. Everyone deserves an identity and a proper burial!

I will just keep watching this thread.

    Article doesnt say if it's male/female, adult/child, ethnic background,etc.

I did pull the area up on a map however, and found it was interesting that this is not that far and a straight shot down the interstate from where Brooke Henson disapeared from.

I will wait to do any searching for this myself until we have more specifics on what/who was found. it doesn't really make sense to start speculating now - it could be anyone.

"The victim could have been a white female between the ages of 30 and 50. Height approximately 5'3" to 5'7"," says Summers. Investigators also say the victim may have had blond hair. No identification was found at the crime scene so officials are relying on DNA testing.

except that Brandy Hanna was 5'9", and the remains are listed as being between 5'3" and 5'7".

since there's not much else to go on, I'm going to stick with the few details they do give in the article, in looking for our UID.

SC - St Matthews - Female Skeletal - Leather Bracelet w/ name "Maria" - Sep'08

Facial reconstruction of mystery woman updated

    http://www.thetandd.com/news/article...cc4c03286.html

ST. MATTHEWS - The Jane Doe found in Calhoun County two years ago has been given a tentative name -- "Maria."

An updated facial reconstruction of the skeletal remains found in a remote wooded area in Calhoun County was released Monday.

    [...]

A leather bracelet bearing the name of Maria was found with the remains when they were discovered. Authorities can't be certain yet if the name refers to the victim or a loved one.

The bracelet letters are English but officials are leaning toward the victim being a 25- to 40-year-old Hispanic female.

I see only two woman named Maria on my list Aged 21-40 with DLC's from 2003 to Sep 08. Both of them have much broader facial structures than this "Maria".

Not sure if this is appropriate and am not at all trying to incriminate anyone, but coincidentally there was a young man that went missing for about a week at the end of September 2008-early October at Clemson.
