Why did the step father admit he was there to look on him even though it would be suspicious? I imagine it would look even worse if he didn't admit it and then police found witnesses who saw him there? It's not a good idea to lie to the police, obviously.

I don't know if I can stomach watching it live online.

I have been holding onto the small shred of solace that this child wasn't burned alive or sexually abused. That all she had time to do was quickly kill him and cover evidence.

If I am wrong I don't think I can stomach hearing it.

But yes... there is a live link online. If you go to the main page there is often a link there if the regular live link doesn't work.

Regular live link which works most of the time for regular newscasts, but not for press conferences and things like that.

Local news at 5 channel 2 had a reporter go to Mona's hometown, Mt. Pleasant. She spoke with a judge that remembered her as she was no stranger to the criminal system there. Also talked with Mona's ex-husband and father of her children. He said his son is planning to go visit his mom in jail.

Hes now leaving Houston.... is that common for victims of murdered children to leave and not stay and support the family and attend memorials and such? just curious...

Michael Nelson said the last time Mona Nelson visited the family was when she went to Mount Pleasant around Christmas 2009.

I'm holding my thoughts, I don't think we've heard all of the story yet.

Many years ago, when my sister was killed in an accident, I read a book about grieving that stayed with me for one particular passage, and it's something I want to share with Jonathan's family and all of you who may be haunted by the thought of what Jonathan and others may have endured.
The author (who I'm sorry I can't recall) was counseling a family whose daughter had been tortured and killed by a serial murderer, and the one thing he really wanted them to take to heart was to realize that whatever it was she endured, for her it was over-- it's the family and other survivors that re-live it over and over, whereas she only had to live it once, and afterwards was at peace. As survivors when we re-live these events on behalf of our loved ones we can imagine that it is as never-ending for them as it is for us, but that is not the case.
Thank you for sharing this little gem of wisdom. It is meaningful to me & will surely be helpful for many others ( I just became to 41st person to click thanks on your post) . Welcome to Websleuths & I hope you'll stick around.

I am sorry for the loss of your sister.

It takes some time to verify an alibi. If someone says he went to the store police would go get a video, etc, they are not just going to take someone's word for it.
