Sex offender linked to two North Side rapes

A convicted sex offender labeled as a high risk by the Texas Department of Public Safety has been jailed here on allegations he sexually assaulted two women in separate North Side incidents in November and December.

Catlin Eric Wilkerson, 25, was charged last week and booked into Bexar County Jail on one count of burglary of a habitation with the intent to commit a felony. A judge set bail at $250,000. San Antonio police said a warrant was issued Monday in connection with a sexual assault, but bail on that charge had not yet been set.
Wilkerson, a registered sex offender, is accused of sexually assaulting a woman after covering her mouth with his hand and dragging her behind the Episcopal Church of Reconciliation, in the 8900 block of Starcrest Drive, on Nov. 22, an arrest warrant affidavit states.
Weeks later, on Dec. 11, Wilkerson allegedly sexually assaulted a woman after breaking into her apartment in the 1900 block of Loop 410 Northeast, police said.

The woman told police she was leaving her apartment when a man wearing a mask and holding a knife pushed her back inside, the affidavit states. He threatened to kill her if she screamed, police said, and then bound her and raped her.

Police spokeswoman Sandy Gutierrez said since the two incidents were so different, officers did not at first believe they involved the same suspect.
