(WTVM)-
Michelle Posey Young hasn't seen her son, Trey Byers, for nearly three weeks.

Byers, a 22-year-old contractor and father of two, said goodbye to his family on his way to a party with two of his friends.

When he didn't come home, worry turned into panic.

"Trey has never went without texting me, calling me or letting me know he's ok or just to tell me that he loves me. We just want him home," Young said.

"He left here from his home on December 18th around 1:30 PM. That's the last time his parents have seen him. He left with two individuals- just said he'd be back the next day and he hasn't returned. Obviously something is wrong and we're just trying to figure out what's going on," said Taylor County Sheriff's Office.

Byer's family has been posting fliers everywhere and search parties have been combing the woods but so far, there have been no signs of the missing man. Agents with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation are also working on the case.

Byers mother says she's fearing the worst but still hoping for the best.

"Please, if there's anybody out there and if you're holding back any kind of information, please, we're begging you- give it up and let us get our son back," she said in an interview Wednesday.

Officials say they'll continue working overtime in the search for Byers. Agencies in Bibb, Crawford and Taylor county are involved, along with the GBI. WTVM is told investigators are working several leads in the case.

Just a few days after Christmas a young mother combs several Macon neighborhoods distributing photos of the father of her children.

James "Trey" Byers was last seen on Saturday December 18th at a home near Sardis Church Road. After hanging out with friends at the home, he was picked up by two men in a tan Chevrolet S-10 pickup with a black driver's side door.

The truck was recovered the next day and had been burned.

Now as authorities investigate, Lisa Humphreys, Byers' girlfriend and the mother of his children is left going door to door, looking for answers and hoping for Byers safe return.

"I still have a lot of unanswered questions. I don't understand why he would go off. He decided he was going to stay and then all of a sudden, whatever they said to him to make him go with them. I don't understand I mean I still wish he would have stayed here. I just, I'm still bewildered and baffled by it all" -Lisa Humphreys/Byers' Girlfriend

I contacted the Georgia Bureau of Investigation which would not confirm the number or identity of suspects in the case but the GBI did confirm that they are investigating.

James "Trey" Byers was formally reported missing by his mother in Taylor County. Anyone with information is asked to call the Taylor County Sheriff's Office or Macon Regional CrimeStoppers at 1-877-68-CRIME.

A
bout 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Crawford County sheriff’s investigators and GBI agents from Perry recovered human remains in a wooded area off Fairplay Hill Road.

“That’s off the same road that Cody Jackson’s truck burned,” Craig Rotter, special assistant agent in charge of the Perry GBI, said Sunday.

Rotter said authorities are not officially identifying the body as Byers’ because “we don’t want to get the family’s hopes up.” However, Rotter said, “we have a pretty good idea of who it is based on what went on out there.”

Crawford County Coroner Allen O’Neal confirmed that the body is a white male.
