Human remains were found near Airport Road in Ormond Beach on Sunday afternoon, according to the Volusia County Sheriff's Office.

<snip>

Curtis said it appeared the skull had come free of a black trash bag surrounded by a box.

Thanks for the thread Cubby!

Just want to add that there is also an informative video at the link. No id yet if an adult or child, male or female.

If anyone sees any updates please post. I check a lot of the FL news outlets in this area for any news on the Haleigh Cummings case but don't always catch everything.

YW twall. I don't follow Haleighs case so you might want to link to this thread whereever it might belong in Haleighs forum so those can watch as any news unfolds regarding this case.

Ormond Beach human remains could be missing woman

Speculation is mounting the remains found at an Ormond Beach industrial park could be those of a missing South Daytona woman.

Pamela Will, 48, was reported missing in September.

...

South Daytona police believe there are similarities. In a police report, detectives said they believe it could possibly the remains of Will.

But neither agency is confirming it is her.

"I understand that DNA is being obtained to verify if this is our missing person or not," said South Daytona Police Lt. Ron White.

Because Will was a known prostitute, there is also growing speculation this could be the work of a serial killer who claimed three lives in Daytona Beach and has never been captured.

...investigators cautioned that Pamela Will, last seen in September at a South Daytona motel, is not the only possible match.

...

The dead body was unearthed Sunday in a remote ditch off West Tower Circle, where a family riding four-wheelers in the mud noticed a skull poking out of the ground.

The rest of the corpse was submerged, buried face-up and wrapped in plastic, according to a police report.

Police said the victim is likely a 20- to 45-year-old white woman who weighed 100 to 115 pounds; she was probably slender and had light brown or dirty blond hair. The woman appeared to be buried within the past six months, but investigators haven't specified how she died or how long she was dead.

Will, whose 49th birthday is Sunday, is listed as 5 feet 2 inches tall and 130 pounds with brown hair, green eyes and a light complexion. Her last known location was Sept. 8 at the Red Carpet Inn at 1855 S. Ridgewood Ave. in South Daytona, where police said she was asked to leave for lack of payment.

She was reported missing about two weeks after that. In November, South Daytona police put out a flier describing Will as jobless, homeless and "in a depressed state of mind."

From March 2015:

As part of an agreement, James Maxwell has pleaded guilty to murdering two women, one of whom was found buried in his backyard... Maxwell was sentenced to two consecutive life terms.

He is also serving a third life sentence in a separate case in which he was found guilty of kidnapping and raping his 9-year-old neighbor in Dec. 2011...

In the summer of 2012, Port Orange police found a woman body buried in Maxwell's backyard. Chasity Starr died by strangulation...

Maxwell also murdered Pamela Will, whose body was wrapped in a trash bag and dumped in a ditch in Ormond Beach behind a business where Maxwell used to work.
