    McCann family awaiting bodies ID's
When Bret McCann heard two bodies were found in a field on the outskirts of Edmonton Wednesday night, his heart skipped a beat.
It's been nine months since his parents went missing, and with still no trace of the couple, Bret and his family are longing for some closure.

Investigation continues in pair of suspicious deaths
A medical examiner performed autopsies on two bodies Thursday, one day after a man out four-wheeling on the western fringe of Edmonton stumbled across the remains.
The discovery was made in a rural, treed area west of Lewis Estates, near 215th Street. CTV News is told the passerby was riding on a clay road in a region that's being cleared for future development.

    Bodies found not McCanns
When news came across the wire that two bodies had been found on the western of Edmonton, Bret McCann was of two minds.
McCann’s parents, Lyle and Marie, have been missing since July 2010. They were last seen fuelling up their motorhome at the Superstore gas bar on St. Albert Trail, heading out to meet their daughter in British Columbia. But they never arrived, and their burned-out RV was found near Edson a couple of days later.
So, when the discovery was made near 215 Street and Stony Plain Road, it made for som anxious moments for McCann and his family.

    Missing seniors cases baffling
It’s been almost one year since an Edmonton senior couple vanished and family members want the nightmare to come to a close.
Bret McCann, son of Lyle, 78, and Marie McCann, 72, who went missing last July said the family is trying to be patient and working closely with police, but remaining patient is becoming difficult.
“It’s difficult knowing that something happened to my parents, but not knowing what it is – there’s no closure,” said Bret. “It’s been a nightmare but we have to be patient. We don’t have a choice.”
The seniors left their St. Albert home July 3 bound for a road trip to Abbotsford B.C. but they never made it to their destination.

Campers find two human skulls in a remote area near Grande Prairie
Something in the air just wasn’t right.
For the past three or four years, Derek Jenner and a dozen friends have spent their May long weekend camping and riding quads in a remote area half an hour southeast of Grande Prairie, five kilometres east of Bezanson and south on Forestry Trunk Road.
This year, a persistent odour was in the air, something rotten that lingered on and off all day Friday and Saturday.

Vader's court case put off until Aug.
The court case against the man considered a suspect in the disappearance of Lyle and Marie McCann has been put of until late August.
Travis Vader was expected to go to trial in the Town of Evansburg. He is facing 16 charges including drug possession, firearms offences and resisting arrest. But the defence lawyer said he didn't have full disclosure from the Crown after taking over for Vader's original council.

    Search continues for missing couple
As the one year anniversary of the disappearance of an elderly St. Albert couple looms, RCMP and other search and rescue personnel are picking up the search for Lyle and Marie McCann.
The couple disappeared July 3, 2010, after leaving in their RV to visit friends in British Columbia.
Their motorhome was found burned on July 5, and the vehicle they were towing was found abandoned four days later.
The only person of interest in the case, Travis Vader, is currently behind bars on unrelated charges.

Search continues nearly one year later
It's been almost a year since the disappearance of Lyle and Marie McCann, who were last seen gassing up in St. Albert in early July. Their burned out motorhome was found a couple days later southeast of Edson, on a site near Lodgepole, Alberta. That's where a civilian crew focused their search efforts on Sunday, spending the day navigating the rough terrain on quads and foot, looking for anything out of the ordinary.

    McCanns declared legally dead
The family of Lyle and Marie McCann has asked the court to declare the couple legally deceased. It's been more than one year since the elderly St. Albert couple disappeared after leaving for a trip to B.C.
The family of the couple has accepted that they are no longer alive. And with a year now passed, the reality of dealing with the couple's estate and other issues had led the family to making it official.
Last week, along with a letter from the RCMP, the couple's son asked the court to declare them legally deceased, and Bret McCann says a judge agreed.

Son of missing couple accepts his parents are gone
The son of an Alberta couple whose parents went missing more than a year ago says he has come to accept he will never see his parents again, since receiving a letter from the RCMP informing his family the couple was probably murdered.
"It's difficult to read the words ‘murdered' associated with my parents, but we've come to accept over the last year that my parents are gone," Bret McCann told CTV's Canada AM on Thursday.
