Police ask for help to ID woman found dead in Clearfield

CLEARFIELD -- Police are asking for the public's help in identifying a woman found dead Tuesday in a vacant home.

A resident in the area noticed an open door to the home and went in to investigate, finding the woman's body on the floor, police said.

Officers did not find any obvious signs of trauma and have not determined a cause of death. She had been dead between 24 and 48 hours, police said.

The woman is described as Hispanic between 25 and 35 years old, about 5 feet 4 inches tall and 150 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. She had a tattoo of a decorative band on the underside of her right wrist and a tattoo with heart patterns reading "Chiques 13" and "SUR" on the middle of her back.

She was wearing a pink short-sleeve shirt over a red short-sleeve shirt, dark blue sweatpants and black shoes.

Seems it is a native gang? I noticed the word "SUR" mentioned as well.

Colonia Chiques looks to be the main organization and perhaps Chiques 13 is a
chapter. I need to brush up on my Gangland episodes.

I just found this info on wikipedia about the word SUR and the number 13:

Sureño gang members often identify themselves with the number 13; to represent the thirteenth letter of the alphabet, the letter M. This is used to pay homage to the Mexican Mafia. Surenos will use the symbols Sur, XIII, X3, 13, and 3-dots in their graffiti and tattoos. In many parts of the country they will identify themselves with the color blue. Mexican Mafia members may have Sureno idenitifers as they were probably a Sureno gang member before being recruited into the Mexican Mafia.

Numerical tattoos may represent streets and neighborhoods that have nothing in common with the area in which they are found. It is common for street gangs to migrate from one area to another and retain their original geographic name/tattoo even if the name is not indigenous to the new location.

California-based Hispanics aligned with northern or southern influences are a good example of this type of migration. Southern California Hispanics will use the number 13 to indicate they are a Sureno (13 is the letter M in the alphabet, demonstrating a Mexican Mafia influence).

Surenos simply means "Southerners." Surenos gangs will frequently use the initials SUR and the number 13 to identify. Large Surenos gangs in the Salt Lake area include Surenos 13, Chiques Trece, Avenues, 18th Street, 38th street, Gardenia Trece, Florencia 13, and others. Nortenos affiliates mostly hail from north of Bakersfield, California. Nortenos means "Northerners," and Nortenos groups in the area use N, Norte and the number 14 to identify. Nortenos affiliates include 21st Street, Diamond Street, Familia Varrio Loco (FVL) and VI Nortenos. Many of these groups continue to have on-going, long-running conflicts.

I don't have anything to add to this case but thank you for the information on the tattoos! If you do a search for "three dots" on Charley Project, it's amazing how many missing people have that tattoo.

CLEARFIELD — The body of a 29-year-old woman found in a vacant home has been identified.

The woman was identified as Tina Joann Trujillo. Her cause of death had not been determined as of Wednesday but foul play was not suspected, according to a statement from Clearfield police.

Slightly OT, but there was an episode of The First 48 having to do with gangs, and the one gang was known as the '3-50's' - which meant three men across, fifty deep. The rival gang was the the 519's. Homocide detective asks the gang taskforce guy what 519 stands for? It's the bus route # through that gang's territory!
