IN-Ex-Mayor's Name too funny for Ind. Center

    http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/41480994...ws-weird_news/

FORT WAYNE, Ind. ó A former Indiana mayor who won four terms in the 1930s and 1950s is proving less popular with modern-day city leaders, who say they probably won't name a new government center for him because of the jokes his moniker could inspire.

Harry Baals is the runaway favorite in online voting to name the new building in Fort Wayne, about 120 miles northeast of Indianapolis. But Deputy Mayor Beth Malloy said that probably won't be enough to put the name of the city's longest-tenured mayor on the center.

    Just my opinion, of course.

wow, I can relate with funny names that can be made into jokes (at least my last one anyway).

Poor dude, he must have been quite something at his job tho to hold the office that many times, with a name like that no less, lol.

Poor Harry. He overcame having a name that probably made it difficult for people to have him paged at the airport. He became mayor, and was so well-liked that he was the longest serving mayor the town ever had.

I say, jokes be damned, name the center after him. C'mon, it's great publicity!

Um, yeah, could you page my friend Harry for me?
    Sure. What's the last name?
    Baals.

Reminds me of a poor guy who was crazy for convertibles, had had one forever. His license plate was "Topless." Someone with a distorted mind reported it as sexual, so he had to get rid of it.

Maybe it's time we stepped back and said if this guy deserves the place to be named for him, then so be it.

I don't think people with dirty minds should rule the universe.

I don't understand why the center cannot be named using his surname only. It is sad that some people cannot get past having a dirty mind. Would basketball games be held in the center? If so, 'The Baals Center' would be a perfect name IMO.
...and be sure your sin will find you out.

I think they just don't have the Baals to do it.
