Perhaps the most impactful change in the bill relates to allowing prosecutors to introduce evidence of sex-crime convictions into sex-crime trials. The law being amended by these bills applies only to child molestation cases. This bill would expand the law to all sex crimes.
“It’s a good piece of legislation that goes after offenders,” Fasano said, noting the bills were written by staff at the Florida Council Against Sexual Violence. He said it’s important people charged with sex crimes who have past convictions for sex crimes have those convictions introduced at trial.
