SHELBY — More than seven years ago, Rodney Whittenburg picked up half of his paycheck from work, but never returned for the rest of it.

Now Shelby police detectives say they have received new information in the 2003 missing person case.

“We started re-interviewing people (and) that has led to new information,” said Shelby Police Lt. Steve Seate. “We are interviewing new people and following up on those leads.”

Police recently began reevaluating all missing person cases and unsolved homicides. They decided to team up with CrimeStoppers in Whittenburg’s case.

Whittenburg was reported missing by his mother. She had not spoken to him in the three weeks prior to his disappearance. Whittenburg worked at Fox Mountain Weaving in Patterson Springs and had allegedly been seen by friends and co-workers during that three week period.

But no one has spoken nor seen him since his mother reported him missing.

Shelby Police Department still receives “sporadic” tips on Whittenburg’s case, Seate said, but they have yet to find any trace of him.

Why is their noting entered in NamUS about transportation? If he went to his work, I assume he drove?
