Family and friends gathered at a Westside Indianapolis church Saturday to watch Arthur George and Frances Hitchcock get married.
Today, they are preparing for her funeral.
Frances George, 82, Indianapolis, died on her honeymoon trip -- a little less than 24 hours after the wedding -- from injuries she suffered in a traffic accident Sunday morning in French Lick.
Her brother, John Brown, learned of her death from a family friend.
"They said, 'Did you hear the news about Frances?' We thought they were talking about the wedding," said Brown, 71, Indianapolis. "You can't describe it without using the word devastating. It's been real hard."
The Georges were headed to church when the crash occurred.
Arthur George, 86, was driving west on Ind. 56 when he tried to turn left into a private driveway and their vehicle collided with a pickup truck, according to an Indiana State Police report.
Frances George died of massive internal injuries. Arthur George was treated at Orange County Hospital for fractured ribs, according to the report.
The driver of the truck, Brian L. Harrison, 29, French Lick, was not seriously injured.
News of Frances George's death hit hard at Speedway United Methodist Church, where she was a member for about 50 years and served as a Sunday school teacher.
