"The three children were sleeping at the time of the fire, and police said the mother locked the mobile home and left her children trapped inside to call for help"

How the mother doesn't have murder charges pending I'll never know :( :( She locked them in to die :( There is no other reason for her to have locked that door.

The only thing I can think of is if maybe it was an automatic lock and it tripped when she went out the door? Don't know if RV's have them.

What I can't understand is why she didn't take them out with her? In an RV it wasn't like she had to run from room to room to collect them, they would have been in easy reach.

There were allegations of sex abuse on the 3 yo Crystal. DHS says the family was interviewed and denied anything was wrong. Did they have Crystal checked by medical to see if there were indicators?

Where was the father?

RIP sweet children,Christopher, Crystal, and Kaylee, may you finally be the happy children you were meant to be!

OMG... look at all the charges! I can't believe these poor kids weren't taken from the home sooner.

This is tremendously upsetting. I happen to be spending the winter in a 27 foot motor home (2006 model) while my cottage is being built for me. There is no such lock which would lock a child inside if the mother went out. In fact, there are a number of safeguards for this very purpose.

My husband, with my full agreement does have me locked in for my own safety due to my seizures and wandering. I also attach my own tethers each night as I'm sick of waking up under bushes and using the services of search and rescue. We've also had to disengage all alarms as they cause seizures as does a clock ticking or a microwave ding. Everything has been turned off and my seizures have lessoned to about one a day instead of scores each day in town.

However, I'm an adult and I chose this over a specialized sound proof nursing home room. It is not safe in the least and I most certainly could die in a fire. I have no stove, however. But, once again, I'm an adult and have willingly taken that risk to live independently a bit longer. I also have special locks on my gate, if I was to make it out into the yard.

This is the very reason that DHS/DDS does not even allow typically locking front doors on houses for children with disabilities. That often surprises people. The rule is simple. There must be safe and easy egress at all times. No locking. I'm not buying that the motor home had self locking doors.

Oh my why were these children still with these awful people! The mother was on methamphetamine at the time this happened! And she is also pregnant.

Allegations of sexual abuse, drug use and domestic violence involving the parents were received by DHS in the three years leading up to the fatal fire, according to a DHS report released Monday.

Stephanie Mae Dunham screamed and cried as two investigators led her out of the police station to the back seat of a patrol car.

Yeah I'm sure it has to do with the fact that she was arrested and thinks she did nothing wrong!

The Dunhams collected about $20,000 from sympathetic donors before allegations of their drug use surfaced, family members said.

Are you freaking kidding me?? These people were given money which I'm sure they spent on getting high while their poor children suffered a horrible death!

This story just keeps getting better.

The report shows Del City police were called to the home 30 times since 2002. The complaints ranged from domestic disturbances to a suicide attempt in September 2010, to rape and child molesting two days later.

The District Attorney's Office said they were against the Dunhams getting a reduced bond due to their risk of flight. Prosecutors argued that the Dunhams used their children's donation fund to buy a used truck, a computer and other items. Prosecutors also said the couple had talked of going to Tennessee.

Looking at the picture of those adorable children breaks my heart!

From July 2012:

A judge fought back tears Wednesday as he sentenced a pregnant Del City woman to 18 years in prison for the deaths of three of her children in a motor home fire, calling it one of the “saddest” cases he's ever presided over... The prosecutor told the judge the defendant's husband acknowledged manufacturing methamphetamine inside the motor home.

Dunham avoided a trial by pleading no contest in May to three counts of child neglect. She also pleaded no contest to two misdemeanor drug charges and a felony charge of possessing methamphetamine in the presence of a child younger than 12...

A jury convicted Christopher Lee Dunham, 26, on similar charges. Bass also sentenced him to 18 years in prison.
