Man finds remains near railroad bridge in Lorton

http://www2.insidenova.com/news/2011/mar/15/man-finds-remains-railroad-bridge-lorton-ar-907641/

Fairfax County police said the man saw the remains near the bottom of the one-lane railroad bridge on Old Colchester Road near U.S. 1 around 11:50 a.m.

Police said the remains were partially skeletal, but would not comment further. They said the remains could be from an adult, and that they will be sent to the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office for examination.

Those photos look more like the body fell from the railroad tracks than that they were carried from the bridge. I wonder if somebody (homeless person maybe, or suicide) got hit by a train?

I agree, carbuff, that is likely a train death, though I know they're looking at the possible connection between the other set of remains found last year. There are 2 brothers who are missing from just south of here that I am curious about.

That sounds intriguing -- do you have a pointer to the brothers?

here is a possible match, Ashok Ankam, age 27 when last seen in Feb 2008 in Cleveland. Per his circumstances "He was reported to be depressed and could possibly be heading to Atlanta, Georgia". Ashok was listed as 5'6".

I realize it is not a direct route from Cleveland to Atlanta, but who knows if Atlanta was his true destinaton?

p.s. - not sure how anyone is going to match Ashok to any UID. has no DNA or dentals on file.

These remains and the remains discovered on Lorton Road in 2010 have been identified as murdered brothers, Alberto & Manuel de Jesus Mireles-Garcia, reported missing from Triangle VA on May 10, 2010. The article does not specify which remains we're found where.

While I am sad for the family, I am glad that they can now have closure.

ETA - just looked at my posts above and the connection that I mentioned appears to be accurate.

Nice call, Hollye! You nailed it. Here's to the family finally having some closure - wishing them peace during what has to be a very difficult time.
