    OK - David, 60, & Rose Garrick, 57, murdered, Midwest City, 22 March 2011

Grandson arrested after two found dead in Midwest City fire

MIDWEST CITY — Police accuse the grandson of two Midwest City residents killed and burned Wednesday in their home of taking a cellphone video of their bodies and smoking pot with friends in the living room before setting the bodies on fire, Police Chief Brandon Clabes said.

Police arrested Kyle Smith, 17, on Wednesday on multiple felony complaints in the deaths of his grandparents, David Garrick, 60, and Rose Garrick, 57, at their home at 3416 Pleasant Drive, Clabes said.
    ---
Investigators accuse Smith of killing the Garricks and their dog, Clabes said. The dog's body was found in the bathtub and the Garricks' bodies were found elsewhere in the home, but Clabes declined to specify where.

Smith went to the mobile home of another person, whose name was not released, on S Douglas Boulevard in Oklahoma City on Wednesday and showed the person the video depicting his grandparents' bodies, Clabes said. Smith confessed to the person that he killed the victims and described the incident in detail.
    ---
Smith's little friends were along for the aftermath (and the pot party):
Dustin Martin, 18, and Jacob LeBlanc,17, were arrested on complaints of conspiracy to murder after the fact, conspiracy to commit arson and conspiracy to desecrate a human body.

Oh for GS! Do we know anything else about this prime example of youth? Any ideas on whether there was a history of problems/disputes with the grandparents? WTH is wrong with people?

Grandson’s Friends Accused Of Helping Cover Up Midwest City Double Murder

    ---
Police said the victims and a pet dog that was found dead in a bathtub all suffered severe trauma to the head.
    ---
"These murders were so violent in nature and then add the fact the suspects tried to destroy the crime scene by intentionally setting the house of fire, shows the true evil in this case," Midwest City Chief Brandon Clabes said. "I hope justice prevails and these three people are given their due punishment for such a heinous and gut wrenching murder."

How and why did our world get here? What a contrast-Japan struggling to survive, and our youth killing their parents and grandparents.

Teen used machete to kill his grandparents, police affidavit says

A Midwest City teenager killed his grandparents with a machete, then videotaped himself poking at his dead grandmother's eyes with the weapon before eventually setting their bodies and the house on fire, according to a police affidavit.
    ---
The affidavit states that [Kyle] Smith told a friend he shot the video because he “wanted to make a memory” of the killings.

The affidavit filed today says Smith used his cell phone to shoot video that shows the couple's bodies on the floor of their home and the end of a machete poking at the heads and eyes of the bodies.

Once again, I'm speechless in the face of such evil. There's not much that can be said about this. Let the psychiatrists attempt to explain it, but I won't even try.

Sadly, it seems more common to me now.

The trial of the last defendant in the Cates murder, Christopher Gribble, just ended in a verdict of life in prison w/o parole - his insanity defense failed - similarly his co-conspirator teens hacked a mother and daughter with a machete.

He took the stand and just explained the horrific slaughter in detail without any emotion.

This kid seems the same way as are his friends. They just don't have a conscience - they have no connection; only this is way worse because they were related to him, not mere strangers.

Heads up - these disorders can be recognized but nothing can really be done until someone commits a murder. They aren't insane legally, but they are a danger to society because of their mental condition. Beats me what can be done about it.

i hope these teens never get out of prison, they are old enough to know better, the grandson seems like a pure sociopath. keep them locked up for life. what sickos!
those 3 look like a bunch of losers. maybe the grandson was the "ringleader" of their little group and the friends were followers and just did what they were told.
how stupid can they be? tape it with a cell phone, it's as if the punk wanted to get caught and locked up.
they all need to be locked up for life. gaurunteed they will kill again if they got out.

MIDWEST CITY — The teenager accused of killing his grandparents with a machete spent time last year at a Kansas military school, records show.

Kyle Alexander Smith was sent there by his grandparents after he was suspected of starting a fire inside a bowling alley in 2009, records show.
    ---
Prosecutors dropped the charge in July after getting a report he did well at St. John's Military School in Salina, Kan., records show.
    ---
A bowling alley employee reported the fire was set after she told both teenagers to stop mistreating bowling alley equipment and video games.

Midwest City teenager cursed, laughed in video of dead grandparents, police say (Daily Oklahoman)
MIDWEST CITY – A teenager cursed at his grandparents and laughed as he made a cellphone video late March 22 of their mutilated bodies, police reported.

Kyle Alexander Smith spoke in a “demonic-type voice” at the video's start, a friend, Jonathan Siders, told police.
    ---
In the video, Smith repeatedly used profanity and spoke at first in a deep raspy voice, police reported.

Using expletives, Smith said, “Look at all those guts. That's ... crazy. F--- both of you,” police reported.
    ---
Early in the video, Smith stepped on his grandmother's hand and stuck the machete in one of her eyes, police reported. He later stuck the machete into his grandfather's head wound and said, “That's … gross,” police reported.

What on earth did these two people do to deserve such a horrific death? Oh I know. They housed, fed and cared for their grandson.

The demon drawing didn't do it. The pot smoking didn't do it. The kid was plain PO'd his grandmom chastised him. She took his car keys? He was fortunate to have a d*m* car.

Mom took him out for his birthday. Although she wasn't sure why he was seeing a counselor. The flippin kid was on medication that made him aggressive. I'll say. Two people getting up there in age would have a time of it raising any 16 year old let alone go through all that.

Oh and good lookout on the friend that didn't go party with him with the meth. You see something like that you might as well figure you may be next.

RIP Mr.&Mrs. Garrick. The saddest part of this all is that these grands no doubt loved this boy.

What's in the weed they're smoking?

Poor Mrs. Garrick had alot of reason not to allow her grandson out with the "friend" he showed the video to and who declined "partying".

Last August Sider hit his roomate in the head with a stick and threw a knife at him slashing his chest. That's some excellent company to keep.

At this link LE were looking for him. Obviously they found him if he testified.
