David Lore Jr. and Angela Lore ran a pet store. They also had four kids between 7 and 16. Earlier this month, DSS gets a report that the living conditions in their home are unfit for anyone, no matter how many legs they have. Report said the house was dirty, the pets weren't being fed and if they died, they were just sort of left where they fell (the pets, not the kids.) So, DSS goes out to check. They find out that the kids have NEVER been enrolled in public school, now I don't know of that means that they were homeschooled, but I doubt it, since they also found that the parents preferred being at the pet store to being at home. They saw no trouble with leaving the kids to fend for themselves in the filth, though. The children had recieved "very little" medical care, so it seems that the animals and the kids were in the same boat there.
They are each on a $250,000 bond. facing multiple counts. The kids and three dogs were removed from the home.

Seems that this has been an ongoing investigation for the course of months. Seems that even though they left the kids at home for long stretches surrounding by decaying animal corpses, neighbors and friends are popping up to defend their homeschooling and parenting ability.
The kids are placed together with relatives and enrolled in school. I'd bet they've been to doctors too.

This link has photos of the outside of their house. I doubt the inside was much better:

ETA: And of course, I have to ask, if they had been being investigated since December, how the heck did the house still look like that and no one not say that it was unacceptable?
