Judge denies Casey Anthony's defense for rehearing on key evidence
Casey Anthony's defense wanted another hearing to have her statements tossed from trial.

The judge presiding over Casey Anthony's first-degree murder case on Friday denied an attempt by the defense to get a rehearing on a series of motions aimed at tossing key evidence from the trial.

In denying the motion, Orange-Osceola Chief Judge Belvin Perry did not address the defense's claims that he was biased and made errors in his earlier rulings.

He simply denied the order for a rehearing, adding that, "No other motions for rehearing shall be considered."

Perry's ruling came one day after attorney Cheney Mason filed a motion requesting a rehearing on the defense's earlier attempts to exclude certain evidence from the trial, including statements Anthony made to law enforcement.

The defense's nine-page motion refers to a series of "inaccuracies" in an order Perry issued on the matters earlier this month.

Judge Denies Casey Anthony Motion For New Hearing

http://www.wftv.com/news/27325233/detail.html
Judge Perry didn't have much to say in his order Friday afternoon, simply denying the motion. However, he did write that "no other motions for rehearing shall be considered."

WFTV legal analyst Bill Sheaffer believes that only reason Casey's lawyer would make these kind of accusations at this time is that they are trying to bounce another judge or at least delay the trial while they try.

The defense is accusing Perry, who is the second judge to preside over the case, of being biased against Casey Anthony and being flat out wrong about the facts and the law.

WESH, WFTV, WKMG, WOFL — posted by halboedeker on March, 26 2011 11:46 AM

Richard Hornsby and Jeff Deen have provided provocative analysis for WESH-Channel 2. Diana Tennis has been a lively, refreshing presence at WOFL-Channel 35. Mark O’Mara is a real addition to WKMG-Channel 6’s coverage – he’s smart, classy, articulate.

Sheaffer is especially fascinating when he turns passionate. And, my, was he fiery in a Kathi Belich report Friday about Chief Judge Belvin Perry.
When people talk like that, you do listen. Sheaffer is a real asset for WFTV.

What do you think?

Casey Anthony: What does judge’s big no mean?

What does the latest development mean?

WFTV-Channel 9’s Kathi Belich said, “Our legal analyst believes the only reason the defense would make these kinds of accusations at this time is because they want to bounce another judge or get a delay in the trial while they try.”

Belich noted that Perry is the second judge on the case after Stan Strickland. She sought a response from defense attorney Jose Baez about the ruling, but said that WFTV hadn’t heard from him.

WFTV’s Belich turned to Perry’s record: She found that just one of his rulings in 10 years was partially overturned. She reported that he has sentenced eight murderers to death, and the Florida Supreme Court affirmed all those sentences.

A rumor was circulating that HLN might have some special deal with George and Cindy Anthony. An HLN spokeswoman said the channel has no special deal with the family and there have been no secret negotiations with the Anthonys.
