I've become frustrated with the lack of UIDs in most databases. It's been reported that there are over 40,000 cases needing to be input into NamUS.

Is it possible to volunteer at a local coroner's office and input UIDs? Also, I live relatively rural, I bet there aren't many UIDs in my county. If volunteering locally is possible, could I input other counties UID too?

wekebu, I'd do some calling around and find out. sounds like an interesting job.

sorrry for any typos my eyes are still diolated from the eye dr.

From the County of San Diego Medical Examiner's website, I clicked on the "volunteer" tab:

http://www.sdcounty.ca.gov/cob/volunteer/index.html

Volunteering with the County of San Diego is an opportunity to give back to your community, or gain valuable job training. Volunteer service helps to conserve taxpayer dollars. The Fiscal Year 2009/2010 Volunteer Report indicates that the County utilized 29,951 volunteers providing a value to the County of over $32,059,723. Additionally, $863,612 in monetary and tangible/intangible gifts were donated to volunteer programs.

So there's a good chance that your local county could use your help!!! With the budget crisis the way it is, I don't think they can afford to turn away helping hands....

Have you contacted NamUs directly yet? Todd Mathews?
