Details of Disappearance

Trejo was last seen in Las Cruces, New Mexico on April 8, 1986. He was involved in gang activity at the time of his disappearance and was on juvenile probation for a criminal offense. On the day of his disappearance, his family took him to see his probation officer on Solano Drive, south of Apodaca Park. Afterwards, Trejo asked his mother to drop him off at a friend's home at Dona Ana Apartments. Trejo's mother expected him to return to their own residence on Tornillo Street that evening, but he never did. When questioned by police, Trejo's friend stated the two of them had gone to a park and Trejo went to the toilets and did not come back. He has never been heard from again.

After his disappearance, Trejo's family received anonymous telephone calls telling them he had been murdered. His mother suspects his friends knew more about his disappearance than they disclosed. One of Trejo's friends committed suicide after his disappearance and another was murdered. A third friend has left the Las Cruces area.

Foul play is suspected in Trejo's disappearance, but little evidence is available in his case.

25 years later, the search for missing local youth continues

Victor Trejo would have just celebrated his 39th birthday a few weeks ago. Perhaps he did. No one knows.

The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children is asking for the public's help in finding the Las Crucen, who has been missing for almost 25 years.

The morning after his disappearance, Trejo's friend - who came to get him every day - didn't show up, almost as if he knew Trejo wouldn't be there, Trejo's mother, Beatriz Aldaco, told the Sun-News in 2006.

Then, the calls to Trejo's family started. One caller told his sister that the boy's body parts "had been spread all over, from the river to behind 'A' Mountain."

"One asked if I was Victor's mom," Aldaco told the Sun-News in 2006, "and they said, 'You should know that he was killed and chopped up.' They would say, 'Just want you to know.'"

Police scoured an estimated 15 locations they believed Trejo's body could have been dumped, but found nothing, Myers said.

"We believe that someone out there knows what happened," Myers said. "This kid's family is still grieving and needs the certainty that comes with getting some questions answered. We need to find him and bring him home to his mom."

Just saw his profile on Charley. What a sad story. I hope he's still alive somewhere out there...I doubt it though. Missing for almost 30 years...

So great to see an anniversary article for Victor. I don't like the age-progression though, looks off to me, not like him at all IMO.

Wow, how sad. He was only 14. Too young to realize the extent of the evil in the people in these gangs. I feel for his mother so much to have received those cruel phone calls.

Victor would currently be 51-years-old. His remaining surviving friend is probably a similar age. Maybe someone out there could do the right thing and send a letter to law enforcement to help resolve this case.
