The International Terrorism Victim Expense Reimbursement Program (ITVERP) is intended to reimburse victims for allowable expenses incurred as a result of acts of terrorism occurring outside the United States. OVC offers online applications for financial support. Visit the ITVERP Web pages for details on who is eligible, what expenses are covered, how to apply, and other information about the program.

The Victim Reunification Travel Program (VRT) provides funds to help left-behind parents in international child abduction cases. Support under this program is provided via an intra-agency authorization with the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) and an OJJDP grant to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). For assistance, contact NCMEC at 1-800-843-5678.

    International Organization for Victim Assistance

The International Organization for Victim Assistance (IOVA) was formed in 2005 as a sister organization to the National Organization for Victim Assistance (NOVA), U.S.A. Many members hold memberships in both organizations – and in the World Society of Victimology, an academically-oriented colleague organization.

IOVA's principals have years of experience in working on victim issues across Latin America, Asia, and Africa. Its work in Rwanda has resulted in partnerships with Forum des Activistes contra la Torture (FACT), an NGO working with victims of crime and torture, the National Disaster Service, the Ministry of Health, the Office of the Prosecutor General, and the National Police Academy.

All states receive Federal funds from OVC to help support local victim assistance and compensation programs. There are resources in your immediate area, State, and/or region that offer services to individuals who have been victimized by crime. Information on assistance and compensation programs in your local area is available on the U.S. Resource Map section of our site.
