Thanks, Lanie. I was wondering about this. This is another local guy. Nevada City is only an hour from here. There are a lot of woods in that area. Maybe he got disoriented out in the woods or something. I hope they find him. I haven't seen anything on the news. Would be our local channels.

    Thanks, Lanie.,
Something about this story stinks. His car was parked at a campground for a month, his body lying 100 yards away and nobody noticed? It doesn't sound like he killed himself to me. Why would his body be 100 yards away, and no weapon nearby? I can see killing yourself inside your car, but 100 yards away? I realize that the animals may have moved it a bit, but still no weapon. I am not familiar with this campground, but I am familiar with highway 20. I don't know how many people camp this time of year, but he disappeared Sept. 4th, which was labor day weekend. I am willing to bet that the campground was hopping at that time. I am curious what the coroner finds for time of death. I will keep my eye on this now that I know what paper to look for. Thanks.

News article from the 6th, they have now found the gun close to where the body was found. Homicide not ruled out, and check out the sad doggy story with this one.

Poor guy. I can't imagine being so distraught about something that you would end your life. I feel so sad for his son now without a dad. Sad story.

County investigators have yet to positively identify the remains of a man found near a sport utility vehicle reported missing from Nevada City, but the remains are believed to be that of Jim Smith.

Anyone know if the remains were ever positively identified?
