Authorities have charged Mark Baker, 25 of Parsons, with a number of crimes including felony murder, abuse of a child and aggravated sodomy.

The latest court documents show in 2010 Baker had returned to Kansas and was dating a girl who had her children taken away because of allegations that Baker molested one of them.

When Baker was a minor he had been convicted of sexually assaulting a seven and nine year old girl.

God, why does this keep happening?! He did this 2 times before and I want to know why he wasn't in jail??? No mention if the mother knew of his previous crimes before she left her baby with him.

Always not so good to see people from my hometown in the news for this sort of thing. He got his start elsewhere, though:

This is not Mark’s first go around with the police and/or sexual abuse charges, according to the Texas Sex Offender Registry he was convicted in 2001 of aggravated sexual assault of two girls (7 and 9-years-old).
---
Court documents show authorities knew he had not registered as a sex offender in Kansas and was not required to do so, because he was a minor when the assault occurred.

I'll tell you why. Because CPS doesn't usually get involved with kid on kid crimes. Oftentimes charges are never filed. Too many people whine & demand "treatment" when a minor is a sexual predator. "Treatment" is a JOKE. imo Minors enjoy the privedge confidentiality and having their records sealed. Convicted juvenile sex offenders are in public schools, maybe even sitting next to your kid in class. People need to think about that when one is caught and known to be a predator.

Baker, 25, was sentenced Friday here in Labette County District Court as Zane’s family watched. Baker had pleaded guilty to felony murder, abuse of a child, obstructing the official duty of an officer and two counts of felony possession of marijuana...

Dr. Erik Mitchell, the forensic pathologist who performed the autopsy on Zane, testified about the cumulative injuries that caused his death...

Fleming said after hearing from Dr. Mitchell, he considered Baker’s actions to be cowardly and disgusting. He then sentenced Baker to life in prison on the murder charge, 128 months in prison for child abuse, 40 months in prison on one marijuana charge, 12 months on the other and seven months on the obstruction charge. All charges will run consecutive. For the murder charge, Baker must serve 20 years in prison before he’s eligible for parole.
