Graphic details of what was done to the boy:

Notice not a tear from the mother!

A criminal complaint said the boy had abrasions on the right side of his face, burns on his left ear, and cigarette burns on his hands

Here goes another excuse:

Detectives said Howe told them he was wrestling with the boy on the bed when he jumped into the air and came down on the boy with his elbow.

Howe also said the boy drowned, but he was dry when police got there!

New Mexico Children, Youth and Families Department Secretary Yolanda Deines said veteran investigators were calling the incident the worst case they've ever seen.

RIP sweet boy, may you be free from pain.....

NM is becoming a dangerous place for children...I seem to read one of these horror stories here once a month...very sad. Hope this latest pair is locked up for good.

From September 2014:

Dominic Howe, the man arrested in 2011 for the violent death of his girlfriend’s 2-year-old son, pleaded guilty to child abuse resulting in death on Wednesday in state District Court in Albuquerque.

Howe was immediately given a life sentence plus 18 years suspended. He will also have to register as a sex offender.

Injuries discovered on the child’s body at the hospital where he was pronounced dead included scars to the boy's ribs and injuries to his genital area. Police also noticed burns, abrasions and what appeared to be cigarette burns on his hands, according to a criminal complaint.

From October 2014:

Elizabeth Martinez spent 3½ years in jail awaiting trial for negligence leading to the death of her 2-year-old son, “Tintin,” but late Wednesday a state district judge ordered her released after a jury hung on the single count ultimately presented: reckless endangerment leading to death.
