Technical problems on an FBI helicopter forced officials to postpone a planned aerial operation to search for more human remains on a South Shore barrier island Friday, officials said.

Hi, Righteous1, I wouldn't dispute that they knew each other; I just think that concluding that there was a personal business relationship (presumably he had been working for the escort service, not her) on this thin evidence is stretching a bit too far. And if the driver was Asian, it seems unlikely that it would be him. (Although he might be Filipino, but even that seems a stretch.)

Why personal? The service is defunct. He was just a Driver. I don't understand, maybe I'm missing something.

Filipino was my thinking.
They had a business relationship prior
He was arrested for something besides driving
he needed a Job
Trust, both ways
He left that night knowing he would see her again to be paid for working that night.
I couldn't understand why a driver would wait 3 hours and then just leave without pay. When his name popped up it made sense.
Maybe I'm wrong.

Hi, Righteous1. I'm sorry if I wasn't more clear. My point was that Shannan hadn't hired the driver; the escort agency had. The person with whom she was arrested certainly wasn't the only driver available for hire in the area. For all we know, or at least all I know, she might have simply hired some one from a car service. Obviously, one way or another, a driver would surmise at least in a general way what her mission was, but he might sense that if he got paid, it was none of his business.

SG wasn't new to the game. She didn't go to this house with a chauffeur, she went with a "driver". Translation: protection.

Now, whether or not this was the same driver she got arrested with previously is another matter. Maybe it was, maybe it wasn't. Hard to say with any certainty.

If I'm a driver and I don't know you there is know way I'm waiting 3 hours and then leave without getting paid. This was a privite call from CL, she's going to use someone she knows.

Hi, Righteous1. You make some good points. Like some cab rides, it might have been a two-part payment: one coming and another returning. As for leaving without payment, according to him, he had no choice; he couldn't find her; he called her repeatedly; and he did return the next day. All this makes me realize how even though the Gilbert case has dominated this entire serial killer story, we still know very little about how she conducted her life.

So true and she is still the one who is lost. She is the catalyst for all of this.

Hi, Mountain Kat. A lot of New York area car services don't really seem like of chauffeur luxury class. The driver wouldn't be expected to go into the house; in fact, in this instance, he wasn't even initially allowed beyond the gates of the community, so protection didn't seem to be a major factor. My guess is that whatever the arrangement was made, it was made on the basis of economics, not long-term loyalty.

I hope they all go and read the last post on the previous thread!!!

To the person who said JB owns or regularly uses a boat, do you have a link for that? Lots of people who live near the water don't own boats and don't like boating.

To the person who did the property search on blockshopper, and suddenly announced JB is a billionaire who owns loads of properties, please check White Pages. There are 100+ JB's listed in NY alone. How do you know which is which? http://www.whitepages.com/dir/ny/brewer/joseph

To the person describing the water as "cold" even in the middle of summer, the average sea temperature is 72 degrees in summer at Jones Beach. The water temperature today at Jones Beach is 44 degrees. the weather has been unseasonally cold this year, last year it would have been closer to the average for May 1st, which is 50 degrees. A water temperature of 10 °C (50 °F) often leads to death in one hour, but not 15 minutes. For that, the water would have to be close to freezing, which it could not have been at the time of year SG disappeared.

Someone who actually lives there, (and probably for more years than most people posting here have lived), whom I have been given no reason to doubt is not telling the truth, is directly contradicting the person who made the very long speech about people NEVER EVER getting washed out to sea, and that if you dropped a body in the water, it would just stay where you dropped it. The sea around Fire island would be an awfully stagnant body of water if that was true, I suggest someone needs to study up on water currents in the area and POST A LINK to back it up. In the meantime, I'm going with the neighbor and HE thinks it's quite likely she could have been taken out to sea. You can find the link for that interview on Newsday.com

Back to the Bus driver theory, What if SG did get away, headed towards the highway, or town and hopped on a bus. Where is the closest bus stop?
