I used to like him so much as an actor--he was really offbeat and played some good roles. Something has happened to him in the past 10 or 15 years, though. I couldn't even stand to watch "The Bad Lieutenant" (? was that the name). And now this. Ugh.

But he was on my hottie list. I would have married him if he asked me

Oh well, off the list he goes.

    Domestic abuse?
For a drunken loud argument with his wife on the streets of NOLA?

Nothing I have read said he struck anybody. From what I'm reading he was just being a drunk a-hole. If he wouldn't have dared the cops to arrest him he would not have been arrested.

I don't see how this equates to domestic violence. I don't understand that charge.

And if every drunk person on the streets of NOLA was arrested, it would be a ghost town.

What a waste of time, money and resources, imo. Get them some coffee, find out where they are staying, and take them both home.

"According to a police release, Cage, 47, was arguing with his wife in the 600 block of Dumaine Street at about 11:30 p.m., about whether the house they stood before was the residence the couple was renting in the French Quarter. Police say Cage's wife disagreed, and he grabbed her arm and pulled her to what he thought was the correct house address.

Cage then began striking cars on the street, police say, and attempted to get into a taxi. At that point, an officer who had been flagged down by onlookers approached Cage, who police say was healvily (sic) intoxicated and began yelling.

Orleans Parish Criminal Sheriff's website docking information lists domestic abuse battery and disturbing the peace as the charges under which Cage was booked at 6:33 a.m."

I could kinda understand the disturbing the peace charge if it occurred anywhere other than NOLA, but domestic violence battery???? Where is that coming from.

I didn't even realize being drunk and loud in the French Quarter was considered disturbing the peace. Seems like a normal night in the quarter to me. I find that odd.

I can see disturbing the peace, drunk and disorderly, etc but what I have read so far does not seem to scream domestic violence.

Well is he was being drunk and disorderly, maybe the arrest will be a wake up call for him. It sounds like the alcohol is getting the best of him, which is never a good thing.

I hope he did not hurt anyone and I hope he gets some help so he doesn't just become another drunken, yucky celebrity.

"Cage is said to have taunted cops into taking him into custody, repeatedly refusing their request to quietly go home and asking, "Why don't you just arrest me?" The officers ultimately obliged, charging Cage with disturbing the peace and domestic violence."

Apparently, his wife does not want to press charges, but IMO if you are drunk, belligerant, and taunting the cops, then you have literally asked for it.

"the Oscar winner was "very drunk" on a New Orleans street when a taxi driver allegedly witnessed the couple quarreling loudly. The cabbie reportedly called the police when Cage pushed his wife."

This is from the same link as above. Battery does not necessarily mean that she was hurt, but that she was the victim of an intentional use of force.

I know what battery means. And, I did see that.
But, since the cab driver said he saw him push her, he can be arrested with battery charges? I mean, wouldn't the wife have to say he pushed her or she have marks or something?

I thought cops had a very hard time pressing charges for battery without a complaint from the victim or visable marks.

This could have been a slight push to try to show her where the rental property was or a stumble. Nothing he did sounds like battery to me.

I guess Nick has been having some other problems that I certainly wasn't aware of. I had heard about the financial stuff, and all the homes but, he has apparently been having other "acting out" problems.

    From a popeater article: http://www.popeater.com/2011/03/07/n...ans-bar-fight/

Nicolas Cage Escorted Out of Bar After Alleged Fight
By Tracey Harrington McCoy Posted Mar 7th 2011 07:45PM

"Just three months after being caught on tape going ballistic outside a nightclub in Romania, Nicolas Cage was involved in an incident at a New Orleans bar and had to be escorted back to his hotel.

Police were called to upscale restaurant Stella on Chartres Street on Friday night after a window was broken, RadarOnline.com reports. Upon arrival, they determined Cage should be escorted back to his hotel for his "own safety."" more ...
