Police are searching a landfill in Montgomery County, hoping to find clues in the disappearance of a Conroe woman.

Conroe police say Martha Jimenez, 44, has been missing for 10 days. She was last seen at work on Sunday, April 10, and was reported missing by her children.

"She works in a small convenience store right near her home. Around midnight she locked up as per normal and left the store and was never seen again," said Conroe Police Sgt. Joe Smart.

Martha's husband, Luis Hernandez Jimenez, 54, is charged with tampering with evidence by giving a false statement. According to detectives, he said she had "just left" and appeared distraught.

"It was reported and the investigation led us to believe that she left on her own," Sgt. Smart said. "Then evidence surfaced later in the week that led us out (to the landfill)."

Police say new information developed which led them to believe Martha may have met with foul play. That information has not been disclosed.

An unauthorized entry was made into the Security Landfill early Sunday morning. Police are operating on the possibility that it could have been Luis Jimenez, who is an employee of the landfill.

This is a stone's throw from me. :(

~~

Conroe police said Jimenez was last seen on surveillance video around midnight on April 9, locking up the small convenience store where she worked on Old Magnolia Road.

Investigators were initially told that Jimenez may have gone willingly with a friend to Mexico, but after a few days of working leads, police focused in on the landfill.

They now believe that Martha Jimenez and her husband, Luis Hernandez Jimenez, got into an argument over the weekend, and that her body was dumped at the landfill.
Police said Luis Jimenez has worked for the company that owns the landfill for 20 years, and he’s been at that particular facility in Cleveland for the past four years.

Sgt. Joe Smart said they started searching the landfill with Texas EquuSearch and cadaver dogs on Monday, but so far, they’ve found nothing.

They did, however, find surveillance video of a vehicle gaining unauthorized access to the landfill Sunday night, though they haven’t confirmed if the vehicle belonged to Luis Jimenez.

Texas EquuSearch Helping Search Landfill

Conroe police and Texas EquuSearch crews were sifting through a landfill near Cleveland Wednesday morning, searching for the body of a missing woman.

Martha Jimenez, 44, was reported missing on Saturday by her 18-year-old daughter.

They now believe that Martha Jimenez and her husband, Luis Hernandez Jimenez, got into an argument over the weekend, and that her body was dumped at the landfill.

He said investigators are certain that Martha Jimenez is dead, but his biggest fear is not being able to find her.

"My biggest concern is that we’ll search out here and search and search and not find anything, and it will just be an open case," Smart said.

But Tim Miller, founder of Texas EquuSearch, said crews remain determined to find the body. Miller said they weren’t using cadaver dogs anymore on Wednesday, because they hadn’t had any success with them.

Instead, they were sifting through the garbage themselves

I hope she is found. I am sure the rest of her family and friends will be glad to know what happened.

This is very close to me as well. How sad. This won't end well at all.

Conroe police searching through landfill for woman's body

Conroe Police have been able to pinpoint the most likely area of the Security Landfill where Luis Hernandez Jimenez allegedly dumped the body of his wife, Martha, earlier this week.

[snip]

“It wasn’t until later in the week when we got evidence that showed (Martha Jimenez was killed),” Smart said.

He would not say what that evidence was, but “it was pretty irrefutable,” he said. “We wouldn’t have been out here spending all this time and money looking for her.”

Midwest Mama I don't think it could be her... that body was discovered over a year later... she wouldn't have been "preserved" that long (didn't know how else to say it)

Good point. You are right. Thanks.

This article from 2011 has a photo of her.
