Interesting. If it was known who this person was then this person's scent could be checked around where the vehicle was too. Wouldn't THAT be interesting to do (again, if the person was known). Of course you need to find out where Krista was even there first.

    This is so mysterious.

And the gap of time from last contact (8 pm Fri) to vehicle discovery (6:30 am Sat) is very disturbing. Could a parked vehicle engine run that long? Wonder how long the car had been there. Car wouldn't have been running if she'd pulled over because she ran out of gas.

Hope there are prints on the car somewhere.
IMHO, the gap from last contact to vehicle discovery doesn't seem odd. There are many, many nights/days when I don't make contact with anyone else for that amount of time or longer. Once my kids are in bed, I usually spend time relaxing and don't make a lot of phone calls (if any). She may have talked to someone before putting her daughter to bed and then headed to bed early herself. There are so many more facts that we need!

Yes, still snow in the New Hampshire mountains, and quite a lot of it. They had fresh snow this morning, though it's supposed to turn warm for the next few days.

The snow could be a blessing in this case. Depending on when it fell, it could tighten up the timeline. I'm wondering if any footprints were found in the snow. If so, they might indicate one or more people, size of individual (s), if there was a struggle, etc.

Good point. From the looks of the photo, the car was parked before the snow started. The ground underneath it is bare. If it had been parked after the snow, the ground would be white.

The parking lot looks bare so I think the snow isn't 'sticking' to the ground. But where the vehicle was 'running', the snow would be melted under it anyway.

I'm going to take my observation back anyway. What I thought was bare ground might be the shadow of the car. The running car wouldn't cause the snow to melt everywhere, though -- like not under the back bumper. And yes, the snow is only sticking to the grass and mud and stuff. I don't quite recognize the exact spot, but it looks like one of the ski area parking lots. I think the pavement in the foreground is the road up to the lodge, but there's not enough detail to be sure. Yes I've been here before, but not in several years.

    left the kid warm.......

    good point k-9chaser

Someone wanted to keep the car warm...so perhaps needing it to be warm from the cold night before.. also leaving flashers going indicates no one was around....so either mom wanted to keep the kid safe or she was abducted and the abductor allowed the kid to have the heat and flashers going.... he may know her and the child...?

According to Weather Underground, the high in the area today was about 37F. At 6am, the temperature was 32F. That's at Fryeburg, ME, just over the border, which is the nearest official reporting station. North Conway/Conway is usually a couple of degrees warmer, but still, the heater would have been necessary.

Map. The news articles say she had connections to Bridgton ME as well as Portland and Conway, so I took the route that went through Bridgton, figuring she'd probably go the familiar way.

Portland ME to Mt. Cranmore, NH
