Phylicia Barnes is from Monroe, North Carolina and was visiting the Baltimore area with her family when she was reported missing. Police believe she was abducted and suspect foul play.

Phylicia Barnes’ body was discovered in the Susquehanna River near the Conowingo Dam on April 20, 2011.

The Baltimore Police Department is asking anyone with information on this case to call the tipline at 855-223-0033.

I was approved as a member for the Justice for PB group, investigate. (Don't know how to pull your post over from the last thread)
 
The justice for PB FB group is a closed group, so we have to go by the same TOS as private pages and can not bring the info here.
 
I wish we would hear that there is more movement in the investigation - which I suppose will happen once the autopsy is complete. I hope it doesn't stall again after that. I constantly think about how terrible, tragic and completely and utterly unfair and wrong what happened has been.
Someone knows what happened to her. Likely, someone helped cover up the crime. (Or more than one in each case) The guilt has to be heavy right now. Your soul must hurt. Time to stand up, straighten up your back and tell what you know.
 
Strach in response to your question on the last thread, yes I am local. I live between B'more and DC and am very familiar with the RR plaza area where PB was visiting and the West Side of B'more/Ellicott City & Patapsco Park areas that were searched.
I am still so suprised by where she was found. I also am not certain what my opinion is about the other body found....I think it could easily go either way.
 
There is some SERIOUS buzz on Twitter. A friend of someone in PB's family, not sure if it's the Sallis or Barnes family has tweeted that db's boyfriend is responsible and is on the run. ?

I just wanted to share this because it is of interest.

Someone asked the person how do they know this, and they replied because their friend, the family member, received a call from the family telling this family member, and that it's supposed to be coming on the news. ?

Again, this is BUZZ, not a confirmed fact.

I feel for BB, he really sounds like he is scrambling. He must be going through an incredible rhelm of emotions. Personally I don't think she had any reason to be there either. Realistically the river was a dumping spot. I doubt very much Phylicia had a 'secret boyfriend' LE wasn't able to find info about after reviewing her computer.

There is only one reason I can see for PB to have been found there AND to tie the other male UID to her case, - IF the male UID was a habitual RSO and feared getting caught. However, we can almost certainly eliminate that possibility because it appears MSM have indicated the male UID's prints did not match up with any of the databases they've run. Now, if they have not run the prints through all available databases ruling out that possibility may change. I still think it is a far stretch....

What I would like to know is if the J family has any ties to this river. Either personally or via any work route, perhaps a delivery route of somekind....

Hopefully LE won't be as tight lipped now that her remains have been found. If they remain extremely tight lipped that will indicate to me they already have their man., or know who their man is.


ETA: UID is the term we use at WS for unidentified.
 
Who is this MA person anyways who is doing all this bashing about the family on FB? shes been kicked off the Pray for FB page.... Is she related, a friend, etc?
 
I went through NamUs to see if there are any MP's who might match the UID found with Phylicia's remains. Nothing. Only three adult black males listed (within a reasonable distance) at NamUs going back to early September 2010, all of them shorter or weigh much less than the 6'4" 240 lbs I recall the UID reported.

Did anyone find any credible info to substantiate the rumor of canoeing accident or someone jumping off a bridge?

Just looking because I really do not think the cases are tied. I tend to think both surfaced due to the change in weather along with the increased water flow/change in currents.

Also if anyone finds a MSM article about the male found, with his stats etc. Please post it. If they are found to be not related I may open a thread for him in the UID forum.

They guy who posted on the article that is no longer available said the guy had no family except for a few nieces/nephews. He was a former convict, and had very little.

Authorities said it could take the medical examiner’s office days, weeks or even months to determine how Barnes and the man died. A police spokesman said there are no apparent signs of trauma on either body pulled Wednesday from the Susquehanna River near the Conowingo Dam

The above statement is not uncommon when remains are first found if there is not immediate visual trauma to the body such as stab or gun shot wounds. It does NOT rule out foul play.

Do we know if the man who jumped was African American? The articles didn't say - at least that I saw. Race would be the first rule out of the man who jumped was caucasian. If he was AA hopefully the B'more ME is looking into obtaining dentals or DNA for the man.
 
I figured that the info hadn't come back from LE. It does take time... as much as we wish we knew sooner! Just another rumor amongst the many many we have heard.

Yes, Also very big man. Approximately 280-300 lbs and around 6'4. If it isn't the jumper and is some how related to PB I'm thinking innocent bystander at the wrong place at the wrong time. A witness to the dumping.

I think almost anyone could be familiar with the area. There's boating, fishing and Elk Neck State Park has a beach there. I never liked the beach because the water was dirty. The kind that turns the white of your bathing suit brown. There are sharp rocks in the water also so I always cut my feet. Huge friggin catfish there.

In December it would be dark by five. Keep in mind someone was most likely transporting a corpse. Another good reason not to cross over into PA. and try dumping her up there with Md. tags at that. State Troopers all over the place as well as mad traffic. 40 miles might not sound like much to some but Md. is a small state with traffic, people and LE every where. I can think of some secluded areas in Howard County but I think it was not chosen specifically because it looks obvious that would have been taken there directly from her sisters apt. due to proximity and possibly more familiar and/or known area the perp frequented. Anywhere farther is just too risky imo.
