"Authorities say this levee break is good for the city of Poplar Bluff, but bad for the county. The break relieves some of the pressure on levees protecting the city, but thousands of acres of floodland and several homes in the county are in jeopardy after this breach."

Unfortunately, this may be the first of many this spring... such an incredible winter from coast to coast. Praying for the safety of those in jeopardy.

There is a Red Cross Shelter for evacuees at the Black River Coliseum.

The Black River Coliseum is accepting pets. They've brought in kennels to house them.

(Me: awww, sweeet! Kewl, very kewl!)

Good for the Coliseum! It's about time that those who run shelters realize that lots of us simply will not leave our pets behind. Rightly or wrongly, that's how we feel.

The video at KFVS says the water is estimated to be rising at 4 inches per hour in the surrounding area.

There has been another levee breach in Scott County. It's at the Caney Basin Dam, southern side. It's flooding crops, no homes. Laura Wibbenmeyer is at the scene.

(ME: I am not sure if this is in reference to the second breach or a separate incident altogether. Can anybody clarify?)
