My goodness! I'm praying for all involved. Praying that everybody is safe.

There are a lot of mixed reports coming from there right now. Trying to sort it out.
I will post more as MSM does.

Unfortunately, this may be the first of many this spring... such an incredible winter from coast to coast. Praying for the safety of those in jeopardy.

The video at KFVS says the water is estimated to be rising at 4 inches per hour in the surrounding area.

Another levee breach in Stoddard County

STODDARD COUNTY, MO (KFVS) -

There has been another levee breach in Scott County. It's at the Caney Basin Dam, southern side. It's flooding crops, no homes. Laura Wibbenmeyer is at the scene.

The Jenkins Basin Levee in Stoddard County has breached, according to Dale Moreland, the public information officer for Stoddard County Emergency Management.

(ME: I am not sure if this is in reference to the second breach or a separate incident altogether. Can anybody clarify?)

Yes, the two breaches in Poplar Bluff and one in Stoddard County, KY are 3 separate events.

Three levee breaches in Butler County

POPLAR BLUFF, MO (KFVS) -

There is a possibility that Lake Wappapello water level may overflow the emergency spillway, according to the Poplar Bluff Police Department.

More rainfall will increase this possibility.

This would affect northern portions of Butler County, and would place make T Hwy impassible.

Emergency Management Director Rick Sliger says there were three separate large levee breaches between Poplar Bluff and Qulin, Missouri. Two of those breaches were along County Road 607.

A representative of the Missouri Department of Transportation advised that flood waters were now approaching US Hwy 67 at Neelyville, Missouri.

Poplar Bluff Street Department Superintendent Jeremy Grable advised that flood waters continued to rise at Peach St and North G St in east Poplar Bluff.

Just a reminder to everyone that it only takes a couple of inches of moving water to lift a car and sweep it downstream. We don't get a lot of rain here in the desert, but when it does rain we get flash floods: a lot of cars are lost (and people have to be rescued) just because they try to cross "a little bit" of fast-running water.

My thoughts are with folks in/around the Poplar Bluff area tonight. I used to live in Cape Girardeau (not to far away), and hope all are staying safe. That video of the levee breach was not pretty. Thinking of all my Missouri friends tonight!
